The spaceprogram is targeted to bring mankind up in space, to find brave new worlds for the starving peoples of the earth, a way to give back some hope. The Scandinavian Federation is doing all that.

Tachyon crystals vibrate at a special frequency when power is applied. This frequency created a subspace carrier signal, faster than light. With a little engineering, arrays were made to harness and use that to communicate in space over large distances, making it possible to hook up the Lunar colony to the matrix. The production of these devices are a close kept secret, but smaller units will be making its appearance shortly, greatly increasing the bandwidth of regular wireless communications.
Duranium comes in two varieties. Lightweight, but strong skin on spacecrafts, or as see-through panels in spacestations and biospheres. The composition is similar to alluminium, but with a strong additive. For the see-through sections, the Tachyon crystals are used, though the recipe is a secret. For the Duranium Alloy, other secret additives make up the composition.
The Kongsberg-Kockums Space division have developed an efficient Rocket engine for the spacelift program. The Rockets are reusable, and even the boosters are retrievable, and brought back for a new load. The spaceframe is an efficient cargo bay, and the cargo pods are dockable, and can be stored in a spaceshuttle, if they return to earth.
Studies of computer technology, and the evolved into what we now call S-K, or Semi Autonomous Knowbots. Some may even cross the threshold, and become an AI, though still under control by humans. Nidhogg was the first S-K to launch into space, and was sent to Mars to oversee the mining, and soon, the colonisation of the planet.
The Biosphere is designed to protect and grow crops in orbit, with no gravity to hold them down, and plenty of sunshine. The crop is protected from space debris and ultraviolet rays by a combination of forcefields, and crystalized Duranium alloy. The first bisophere will be launched from Esrange shortly, and will be operational within a month, promising a bumper crop every 3 months. Spaceshuttles will dock and bring in the crop. The next two biospheres will be scheduled for the Lunar base and the future Manned Mars Mission.
