Hi, readers! I'm Nancy, co-author of this behemoth of a
fanfic, entitled "Between The Lines". It's only my third
fanfic (not including the all unfinished ones), and my
first colaboration with other authors, and I have to say
it has been an incredible and invaluable experience. The girls
have showed me new perspectives to take, new words for my vocabulary and new dimensions to explore.
Like Rachel, I used to be really embarrassed about
liking the Power Rangers as much as I did. When I first
started watching it, I could say "Ah, my little brother
likes it." But eventually, his interest waned and I was
forced to face my closet passion alone. Having toyed
with short-story writing before, I wrote what was
actually my first fanfic, which I called "First Crush".
It was pretty much exactly like the show, except with
the addition of a character who I admit was the incarnation
of myself. It wasn't very imaginitive however--I was
still too worried about what others would think if they
knew I had done this. My sister and fellow aspiring
writer (link to her homepage from mine) was the only one
who knew.
Anyhow, one day I got inspired again and started writing
what would be an enormous epic of a story. I don't think
it had a title, but it was forty pages of looseleaf
paper long. I was amazed that this piece of work had
come from my brain, and that was when I first started to
consider myself a writer.
When we finally got online in March of this year ('97),
the first thing I discovered was Manny Perez's Morphin
Grid Power Rangers Fanfiction Page. I was blown away!
Some of the stories were lame but some, like the Purple
Ranger Series by Akiko, astounded me. I couldn't believe
someone had created such a powerful piece of work out
of my favorite silly little kids show! In April, I
finished my first real fanfic, entitled "Just Doing My
Job" which you can read on my homepage. Boy was I ever
proud of me!
Well, enough of that. I'll tell you about myself. I am
sixteen years old, (17 in November), I have been an
unschooler since I was six years old (read all about it
on my page!), I have been studying North American Karate
since March of '95, and plan to get my Shodan (Black
Belt) this coming summer. Right now, my life is taken up
mainly by my volunteer work at the local Cable Company
where I co-produce the sports segment of a new show
called Plugged In! (exclamation included). The three
minute segment promotes and highlights new or unique
sports in the area, like indoor rock climbing (the
premiere). Call it my education. Right now I feel pretty
overwhelmed by the "Producer" title slapped on my
forehead, and the responsibility it entails--but I know
I can only learn from my mistakes and that I'm getting
better every day. You could say I'm a White Belt at
Producing. :Þ
Anyhow, that's enough about me. There's more at my
homepage which is due for an update. You can even see
a picture of me there, so go on over!
I hope you like(d) Between The Lines. It took a good
couple months out of our lives and several million
brain cells--but it was worth every one. Thanks for
stopping by (notice I didn't say "Catch ya on the
flipside")!
