THE STORY OF GLUCAS ARTS
It was 1997, we had not got a name at the time but we created a game known as Search for the holy hat. It was a simple adventure/detective game where the user navigated through folders. That's right using shortcuts and textfiles to different files. Clues were given in text files and then the mysteries became clear. Unfortuanatly due to the fact that it was made in folders it was far to difficult for people to understand. We gave up. We then started syrup the 'sequel' to the still uncompleted search for the holy hat. This time it was actually programmed..... In HTML. We did'nt even get as far as the first puzzle(just the rooms). It was thanks to syrup that we coined the name, Glucas arts.
We then started programming in QBasic, and made a few simple creations. We have recently started programBla, Bla, Bla ........'as you read the pointless drivvel you fall into a deep sleep' you can hear a narratorts voice point out your actions which is quite un-nerving.
People often (in our minds) ask us how we make our products.
Well what we often tel the story of THE MONKEYS PAW
At first (you wouldn't think it would you) we weren't very good at programming so when syrup did'nt load it suddenly occurred to us:-
If you put an infinate amount of monkeys on an infinite amount of type writers you get Shakespere
So we figured:-
If you put an infinite amount of monkeys on an infinite amount of computers you get the best damn game ever (or at least virtual shakespere)
Alas we weren't successfull. We use the term 'Infinite' broudly:-
Our local zoo had only got five monkeys,
and well Dixons is only so big.
But It turned out we had a genius monkey on our hands(unfortunatley not a very good programmer)
he wrote this:-
Help me, I am a school child in the 10th year at Brixton secondary school. I was doing mywork experience at the zoo here when (while looking for a glass hammer), I accidently fell into the monkey I screamed my self hoarse untill I realised the Zoo was empty when suddenly these two people climbed over the zoo gates quickly grabbed me and four monkeys and put us in a van. I am now being forced to type on a computer. Sombody please, please help me.
Isn't he clever.
