On the hit ABC soap-dramedy-mystery Desperate Housewives (Sundays at 9 p.m.), men are, mostly, beside the point. That doesn't mean we haven't noticed them. (Hello, one is Matt from Melrose Place!) Meet our favorite Desperate guys.
DOUG SAVANT
Plays Tom Scavo, business-traveling husband of Lynette (Felicity Huffman) and father of four.
Desperate Moment Suggesting he and Lynette "risk it" without birth control — and getting socked in the jaw. "Felicity packs a wallop," Savant says. "She's a great actress, and she really finds the, um, truth in her role."
Where You've Seen Him As Matt, the Gay One on Melrose. "There's never been any conscious effort, like I have to prove I'm straight," he says. "But this could do it."
Boys' Club "We need a little testosterone area [on the set]. We could get DirecTV, a case of beer, and a pool table."
JESSE METCALFE
Plays John, the 17-year-old gardener and paramour of Gabrielle (Eva Longoria). "It's a challenge remembering what it's like to be 17," the 25-year-old says. Less challenging: making out with Longoria. "Please," he says, "she's the most beautiful woman ever."
Desperate Moment Jumping out of the living-room window in the nude when Gabrielle's husband comes home early. "Running around the set half-naked," he sighs. "That's my M.O."
Where You've Seen Him NBC's daytime drama Passions.
Job Insecurity "I'm hoping the character continues to evolve," he says. "I'm a regular all season, but how long can we keep up this secret affair?"
JAMES DENTON
Plays Mike Delfino, the widowed plumber who's caught the eye of both Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Edie (Nicollette Sheridan). "You see a script titled Desperate Housewives, you want to play the single guy," he explains, "because you know you'll get lucky."
Desperate Moment Finding Susan locked out of her house . . . naked. "[Teri] was wearing some strategic tape and the tiniest thong type of apparatus," he says.
Where You've Seen Him On the short-lived ABC dramas Threat Matrix and Philly.
