SEXY SOAP SIGNS OFF

EXAMINER'S sneak peek at final Melrose Place

by JUDY MAXWELL

There's good news and bad news for fans of Melrose Place.
The bad news is that the sizzling prime-time soap will end its seven-year run in May. The good news is that the sex fest's final show will be one of the most exciting episodes ever.
Superproducer Aaron Spelling pulled the plug on the hip Fox TV series after watching it struggle through another season of slipping ratings.
As The EXAMINER reported exclusively last summer, Spelling talked leading lady Heather Locklear into returning for another year after she contemplated quitting to devote herself to baby daughter Ava.
But the desperate attempt to pull the show out of its rating slump failed. And now, writers are working at a feverish pace to make sure loyal viewers get a satisfying wrap-up of their favorite plot lines.
"The final script isn't finished yet, but the writers pretty much know how some of the show's hottest story lines will end," says a TV insider.
Here, for our readers, is a sneak peek of Melrose Place's top secret finale:

BAD GIRLS FINISH LAST: As Amanda (Heather Locklear) finds out when Kyle (Rob Estes), the love of her life, is murdered in a rock'n'roll riot instigated by Rikki G (Rodney Eastman) at The Upstairs Club. Beside herself with grief, Amanda will put her ad agency under Ryan's (John Haymes Newton) control and sell the Melrose Place apartment building to new owners, who will evict all the tenants to make way for total renovation. By that time, Amanda will be pregnant with Kyle, Jr., and she'll move to New Mexico to have her baby and start a new life. Look for a parting shot of her driving into the sunset as the walls of Melrose Place crumble down in the background.

WHO DO YOU LOVE? Peter (Jack Wagner) will put his marriage to Eve (Rena Sofer) at risk when he rushes to Amanda's side after Kyle's death. Enter Lexie (Jamie Luner), who's been keeping the secret of Peter's plot to have Amanda kidnapped. Raging with jealousy over Peter's rekindled friendship with Amanda, Lexie will spill the beans to Eve, who'll then tell the whole sordid story to Amanda. Horrified, Amanda will cut Peter out of her life forever. After a rocky road to reconciliation, Peter will beg for Eve's forgiveness and they'll agree to start over.

AND BABY MAKES THREE: Jane (Josie Bissett) will hear the news she's longed for - she's pregnant with Michael's (Thomas Calabro) baby. And the prospect of parenthood convinces her that she must rescue Michael from the steep price he's paying for making too many enemies. Jane will announce her pregnancy to her wealthy parents, who - for the sake of the baby - will agree to pay off the embezzlement debt Michael owes to the hospital and keep him out of prison. Jane will finally admit she'll never get over her love for Michael. They'll reunite for good in a steamy night of lovemaking.

SECRETS AND LIES: Lexie's scheme to break up Ryan and Megan (Kelly Rutherford) takes a sinister turn when she hunts down a wealthy client from Megan's past as a prostitute. (The former john will be played by James Darren of Gidget movie fame, say insiders.) Lexie will entice him to enter Megan's life again with promises of love and money. He'll secretly buy Melrose Place, and trouble will erupt when Ryan learns about the secret relationship. Lexie won't leave well enough alone, though - she'll fill Ryan with liquor and lure him into her bed, killing all chances of his reconciliation with Megan.
