Heather Loves Denise
What was once taboo is now a cliché: two women kissing on television, usually during a sweeps period, when ratings matter most. Recall Roseanne kissing Mariel Hemingway on "Roseanne." Or Calista Flockhart locking lips with Lucy Liu on "Ally McBeal." Jennifer Aniston even did it on "Friends" with guest star Winona Ryder. The lesbian kiss during sweeps has become such a cottage industry that, earlier this year, it provoked the following joke from David Letterman: "You know what [bandleader] Paul [Shaffer] and I are doing for our season finale?" he asked. "A lesbian kiss."
Well, now it's about to happen on ABC's "Spin City," between Heather Locklear and guest star Denise Richards. "There's this big thing with girls kissing girls," says Richards, who was signed to appear in four episodes of the sitcom. Their kiss will air sometime during the next few weeks. "Heather is so funny," says Richards. "We laughed a lot." The feeling was mutual. "I knew how sexy Denise was," says Locklear. "When it really happened [on camera, with Richards], I have never felt such beautiful, soft lips in my life. I fell in love." |
Not interesting enough to make me watch. Now if they also had Farrah Fawcett, who is scheduled to appear in the same episode, involved in a three-way kiss, it just may be titillating enough to tune in.
