MELROSE PLACE'S PETER AND EVE TIE THE KNOT
|
Sparks flew between Peter Burns and Eve Cleary, the new girl in town, from the moment they met. Just six weeks later Peter proposed. But Eve wasn't just being coy when she resisted his attempts to learn more about her past.
VEIL OF SECRECY
The day of the nuptials, Amanda, Eve's matron of honor, helped her pal prepare for the big day. Dressed in a simple, off-white gown, the bride was radiant. But Kyle, Amanda's hubby and Peter's best man, broke the mood. Kyle burst in on the women, demanding that they spill the beans about Eve's less-than-stellar past.
To Eve's dismay, Amanda obliged. It seems a teenaged Eve pushed her drunk, football player boyfriend, Kent, off the bleachers at school after he came on to Amanda. She would have been raped if Eve hadn't happened upon them, Amanda insisted.
KISS AND DON'T TELL
Eve explained that after the accident, she dumped Kent's body in a nearby construction ditch. But the cheerleaders were arrested, thanks to a witness. Wealthy Amanda got off, but Eve, not so well off, went to the clink. Amanda stayed true to her buddy, secretly visiting Eve once a month for 15 years until her release.
After the girls' tale, a stunned Kyle pressed Eve to come clean with Peter, but Amanda convinced her man to keep his trap shut. In the end, Eve opted to say, "I do" to Peter, but replied, "I don't think so" to the suggestion that she tell her handsome groom the truth.
Simply Marvelous
Peter and Eve's wedding was as brief as their courtship. Amanda and Kyle were their only guests at the outdoor event. Eve approached with a simple bouquet of white roses, while Peter waited anxiously with their friends and the minister. Eve began the ceremony with a few heartfelt words.
"Peter," she said, "I have never though this day would come. All the heartache and sadness that touched my heart before has vanished. Now, all I feel is joy. I love you, Peter. I promise to love you forever."
Peter was quick to respond to his beautiful bride. "Eve," he began, "I pledge my love to you, and I promise that really like to kiss my bride now."
"Well," said the clergyman, "by the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife." And with a simple kiss, the our future will be together forever." Addressing the minister, he said, "Why don't you say what you have to say because I'd ceremony was over as quickly as it had begun.
