     The Heart Of The Matter: John Haymes Newton (Ryan) is taking a philosophical approach to the cancellation of his series, maintaining that everything happens for a reason. "Material stuff, the career, none of that is permanent," he believes. "So the less attached to it I am now, the happier I'll be when it all goes away. Love doesn't go away, so that's what I'd like to focus on."
     After MP wraps production this month, Newton may hitchhike throughout the country, disguising his famous face beneath a cap. He hitchhiked once before and had the pleasure of meeting a variety of unique individuals. "I caught a ride with one family who had a bunch of kids and a cooler full of beer in the back," he recalls. "I ended up staying on the floor of their mobile home. All night, their huge pit bull was chewing on me and people were knocking on the door. Something funny was going on there, but they were the nicest people I ever met." In the morning, the actor's identity was revealed, which necessitated an escape to catch his next ride. So be on the lookout for Newton this summer - he may be coming to a freeway near you!
