From the August 3 Soap Opera Update:

PRIMETIME FOCUS

Look Who's Back
On TV Soap stars who are heading for
primetime this fall season!

While many daytime actors wait for their big break in primetime (where there is considerably more money), a handful of actors have made the jump and will be starring in series of their own this coming season. Let's take a sneak peek at what's in store for us when the new season rolls out in September.

Sofer GROWS UP

When MELROSE PLACE came to a sad end on May, speculation flourished that Rena Sofer (who played the show's nutty cheerleader Eve) would resurrect Lois on GENERAL HOSPITAL. Don't count on it! Sofer has already landed a sitcom gig as one of the stars of the new ABC ensemble comedy OH, GROW UP. The series is about three men who come together as roommates and the family that forms. Sofer plays Suzanne, the wife and best friend of one of the men, who's left her because he's really gay. Although it was heartbreaking to see MP leave, we're thrilled that Sofer has come home to ABC, even if it isn't on GH.

The others:

Eddie Cibrian (ex-Cole, SUNSET BEACH) will play Doherty on NBC's THIRD WATCH.

Erik von Detten (ex-Nicholas, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) will play Andrew on ABC's ODD MAN OUT.

Dondre Whitfield (ex-Terrence, ALL MY CHILDREN) will play a government agent on the UPN's SECRET AGENT MAN.

Deborah Farentino (ex-Sloane, CAPITOL) stars on FOX's GET REAL.

Rebecca Gayheart (ex-Hannah, LOVING) stars on ABC's WASTELAND.

Eric Close (ex-Sawyer, SANTA BARBARA) and Margaret Colin (ex-Margo, AS THE WORLD TURNS) star in CBS's NOW AND AGAIN.

If Suzanne is the guy's best friend, I don't see why they still can't live together.
