IS MELROSE PLACE TELEVISION HISTORY?

Despite threats of cancellation, the ailing show says that it's not ready to call it quits just yet!

As previously reported in Update, MELROSE PLACE has been marred by rating woes and swift and sudden backstage changes... the most prominent being star Heather Locklear's (Amanda) promotion to co-producer and the dismissal of executive producer Frank South and producer Chip Hayes. Many at FOX continue to predict that the drama will fade away after next season. However, insiders at MP relate that the show may surprise all the naysayers and prevail after all. The new word from the set is that morale is running extremely high among the cast as a direct result of all these changes and speculation.
     Sources close to the show say that everyone couldn't be happier now that Locklear has assumed her new position, and having Josie Bissett return as Jane is the icing on the cake. The fact that the new regime promises to return to those elements that once made the show a hit with fans is also boosting spirits and network support.
