Former Melrose Place co-stars Doug Savant and Laura Leighton have tied the knot in a top-secret ceremony.
     Savant, 34, wed the radiant redhead last month, just before kicking off a nationwide publicity tour to promote his blockbuster flick, Godzilla.
     “I’m thrilled to announce we’re married,” crows the handsome actor, who stars in the sci-fi flick as an army sergeant trying to end the lethal lizard’s reign of terror in the Big Apple.
     But the hit movie’s hectic publicity schedule hasn’t left much time for love. “They had to make do with a whirlwind honeymoon in Paris,” says a pal, who adds with a smile: “But he made sure it was as romantic as possible!”
     Savant and Laura, 29, who played scheming Sydney on the popular nighttime soap, spent their days wandering hand in hand through the City of Light and their nights sharing intimate dinners in the city’s finest restaurants.
     “He wanted it to be first class all the way,” says the insider. “It was a dream vacation, no matter how short. They’ll remember it for the rest of their lives.”
     The lovebirds found each other on the rebound. Laura was the longtime love of hunky Grant Show, while Savant - who played gay good guy Matt on the steamy soap - had been a happily married father of two young girls until two years ago, when wife Dawn dumped him for his personal trainer.
     “Doug was destroyed,” says a source. “He and his wife had been together since he was 19. He was so distraught that his family placed a 24-hour watch on him.”
     Fortunately, that was when sympathetic Laura touched his heart.
     “She told Doug she understood what he was going through because she had just had the same heartache with Grant,” says an insider.
     Now the devoted duo are planning to start a family.
     “Laura can’t wait to be a mom,” said the insider.
