Taylor's Note

by vince

It was early Sunday morning now, in Sunset Springs, California, and the party at Frank's house was finally over. Outside, birds chirped, families flocked to church, and a few cars sped down the San Diego 405 freeway at triple-digit speeds. Inside the house, however, teenagers were asleep all over the place. Stephanie was asleep in Frank's arms still at the foot of the bed, still with all their clothes on (just ta let ya know!), Vince was asleep on the coffee table, with $10 and $20 bills slipped into his pants at his beltline, and Kevin was asleep on the bed with his shirt off, and most noticeably, with his hands tied to the bedpost.

As Kevin gave a big yawn and woke up, he immediately noticed that his hands were teid to the bedpost.

'Oh, no, not this dream again', he thought.

Kevin gave a deep sigh and waited for the dream to end. He then made this weird sound with his lips and became impatient. He soon realized that this was not a dream, and he began to think about how Friday night's dream strangely came true. He vented out his frustration and made a pathetic attempt to break free. As he did this, he noticed a note left by Taylor on the nightstand, on top of his baggy Tommy Hilfiger jeans, but he couldn't read the note from where it was. Then, he tried to examine his jeans closer to check if his wallet was still there. Kevin then heard someone coming down the hall. Sarah walked past the room, and yawned as she greeted Kevin good morning. After a short while, Sarah turned back and stood at the doorway, looking at Kevin. Her blond hair hair was messy, but in a pretty sort of way. She was wearing a extra-large North Carolina college football jersey over her underwear. After a while of examining Kevin, she speaks.

"Why is it that every time I see you in the morning, you're always in some sort of, uh...weird...position?", she asked an an unsurprised tone.

"Will you just please untie me?", Kevin said with frustration.

Sarah shook her head, untied Kevin's hands from the bedpost, then picked up Taylor's note and read it out loud.

"St. Catherine's, Ontario", she read. "Hmm...why would she go 75 miles all the way to Ontario to go to church?", she wondered.

Kevin took the note from Sarah and read it. He looked at it for a while and thought. He had an idea.

"Hey...what if she's in Canada?", Kevin thought out loud.

"What-everrr", Sarah replied as she snickered at Kevin and left the room.

Later that morning, most of the people had already left, but Vince was downstairs in the living room, counting the money he earned from dancing on the coffee table. He paused to look at the TV, and the thought of buying a miracle mop from the infomercial crossed his mind. Sarah came downstairs and spotted Vince on the couch with a handful of money.

"Hey, honey. How much did you make last night?", Sarah asked Vince as she smiled at him.

"Sixty-five dollars", Vince said as he nodded his head in satisfaction.

Sarah raised her eyebrows in impression and then looked at the infomercial on the TV, then to Vince.

"You're not gonna buy that mop, are you?", asked him in a strong tone.

"Um...uh.....no", Vince said, feeling slightly bad about not buying the mop.

"So how are you gonna spend the money?", Sarah continued to question him.

"I'm gonna spend it the same way that I earned it", Vince said, raising his eyebrows with a malicious look on his face.

Sarah glared at Vince and looked like she was about to slap him. Vince saw Sarah glare at him and asked,

"What?", Vince cluelessly asked.

Sarah turned away, shaking her head, and sat down on the couch on the corner from where Vince was sitting. Vince then snickered mocked Sarah's head shake and counted his money again.

Kevin came down the stairs wearing his shirt unbuttoned and sagging his jeans, showing his boxer shorts. He held in his hand Taylor's note. He watched Sarah read the newspaper, then he turned to Vince, counting his money and singing "Toss It Up" to himself. Kevin then turned his eyes toward the TV and found something he could be entertained at.

"Whoa, look at that mop pick up that big mess of animal droppings!", Kevin said as he watched with astonishment.

"If your pet is leaving animal droppings on the kitchen floor, you should see a veteranarian before buying that stupid mop", Sarah commented as she turned the newspaper page.

"Hey Vince, are you gonna buy that mop?", Kevin eagerly asked.

Sarah put down her newspaper and looked at Kevin. Kevin returned her a blank stare. They paused for a while, then Sarah gave out a feminine grunt of frustration and continued reading the newspaper.

Kevin looked at the note, then put it in his pocket and buttoned up his shirt.

"Well, I'm off to church", Kevin informed Vince and Sarah.

"Gee, the last time you've been to church was after you killed a guy, wasn't it, Kevin?", Sarah said sarcastically.

"No, actually the last time he went to church was that one time a couple of weeks ago after he met Marilyn Manson at that restaurant", Vince corrected Sarah.

"Oh yeah. I remember now", Sarah replied.

"Anyways...", Kevin sighed. "I'm gonna go see Taylor now."

"Hey, where is Taylor?", Vince asked Kevin.

"She's in a church in Ontario", Kevin answered him.

"She's in Canada?", Vince asked him another question.

Kevin sighed again and left, closing the door behind him.

As Kevin closed the front door, he saw Frank and Stephanie sitting on the porch swing close together. He greeted them, but they gave no reply. He came to get a closer look at them, and he saw that they were just dazing off into la-la-land, holding each other's hands.

"Hmm...you guys must be stoned or something. Nobody told me that there were drugs at the party", Kevin said.

"We're not stoned", Stephanie finally spoke to Kevin. After a while of silence, Kevin went down the steps and waved goodbye to the love birds.

"Where ya goin'?", Frank asked.

"I'm gonna see Taylor at a church in Ontario", Kevin answered as he handed Stephanie the note Taylor left him.

"That's weird...I remember she told me last week that she was gonna visit our cousin for during our vacation this week", Stephanie said as she looked at the note.

"Where does your cousin live?", Kevin asked.

Stephanie thought, and then answered, "Umm....Buffalo, New York, I think. I'm not really sure."

Kevin shrugged his shoulders in a little confusion. Then, he walked down the pathway in front of the house.

"Hold on, lemme go with you", Stephanie said to Kevin. "I need to talk to my sister."

Kevin turned and looked at the couple and sighed. He was planning on going alone.

"But I was planning on going alone", Kevin whined.

"Oh fine, then. Go alone. I'd love to see you travel 75 miles the public bus again to find out what's up with your girlfriend, 'cause Vanessa went home driving your step-mom's car", Frank told Kevin.

"Oh, yeah", Kevin realized. He sighed and told Frank and Stephanie that they could tag along with him.

Right when they were entering Frank's midnight blue 1994 Honda Accord lowrider station wagon, Sarah came out of the house and yelled,

"Where in the heck are you guys going?"

"Church", Frank answered, "in Ontario."

Sarah sighed in frustration and entered the car with them. "I'm going with you guys", she demanded.

The midnihgt blue Honda station wagon pulled out of the driveway, went down the street, and merged into the 405 freeway entrance lane. Meanwhile, back at Frank's house, Vince was on the phone:

"Hello, yeah. I wanna order one of those miracle mops..."

35 minutes later, on the San Diego Freeway at Venice Blvd...

"I need to pee", Kevin told Frank.

15 minutes later, on the San Diego-Santa Monica freeway interchange ramp...

Frank sat behind the wheel and sighed in frustration because of the traffic.

"Should've taken the 105...", Sarah told Frank from the back seat.

"There's a jack-knifed big rig carrying doughnuts on the Santa Monica Freeway at Washington Boulevard", Kevin repeated the traffic report from the front passenger seat.

"Mmmm...doughnuts", Frank fantsized.

"Frank, I still need to pee", Kevin reminded Frank

15 minutes later, on the Santa Monica Freeway at Washington Blvd...

"Whoa, look at all those people taking the doughnuts", Stephanie said as she observed a crowd of people gathering around the jack-knifed big rig.

"It's like that one time all those people were looting that doughnut store back in Lynwood five years ago", Frank commented. "The weird thing is that there weren't any cops at the doughnut store to stop those guys."

"No cops in the doughnut store...that's pretty weird", Kevin said. "And I still need to pee."

1 hour later, at St. Catherine's Church in Ontario, California...

The four people arrived at the church in the clothes they slept in, after mass, but in time for the church picnic. Kevin rushed to the men's restroom, and relieved himself. The other three noticed that the people of the church were just slightly upset that their doughnuts did not arrive.

"Ah, well, we'll live", a priest said pleasantly to a church member.

Kevin exited the restroom, went into the church, and found an envelope with his name written on it. 'This must be from Taylor', he thought as he anxiously opened it. When he opened it, he found inside a message written from Taylor:

Kevin, I knew you would misunderstand my note and come here instead. Look at the back of this page to see where I really am.

I love you always anyway,

Taylor Jewel Morrison

Kevin looked at the back of the page and saw that it was a road map of New York state. He examined the map closely and saw that the city of St. Catherine's, Ontario was circled in red marker.

Meanwhile, outside of the church building, Frank and Stephanie were talking to each other in private.

"Hey Stephanie, about what happened to you at that party you told me about before...", Frank nervously inquired.

"Yeah...", Stephanie replied.

"Can you tell me who did it to you?", Frank became more nervous.

Stephanie took a deep breath. "His name is Josh. He belongs to this fraternity at UC Irvine." She continued, "I felt sorry for him when he told me that there was this Mafia guy named Boselli out to get him." "I can't believe that I bought his stupid f@!king story", she said angrily. "Then he took advantage of me", she concluded.

Frank's anger built up inside of him. He had never met this scum naned Josh ever in his life before, but Frank hated his guts anyway. Frank temporarily buried his anger and gave Stephanie a hug.

Then, Kevin exited the church building and quickly approached Sarah. He confronted her and showed her Taylor's second note.

"I told you she was in Canada", Kevin gloated to Sarah.

Frank and Stephanie came to Kevin ad Sarah and looked at the map. Stephanie saw that the city of St. Catherine's was practically right next to Buffalo.

"Hey, I came close, didn't I?", Stephanie proudly commented.

"They're in two completely different countries", Kevin said to Stephanie. "So this is where your cousin lives?", he then asked her.

"Yeah, I guess", Stephanie answered.

As the four walked back towards Frank's station wagon, a black late-model Chevy Impala pulled over to them. The back window rolled down and a Marln Brando-looking guy with a cat sitting on his lap started to speak to Kevin.

"So you want to see your girlfriend...", the mysterious man said to Kevin. "Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Don Boselli. I think I can help you see your girlfriend."

Kevin gave Mr. Boselli a strange look as Mr. Boselli reached into his inside coat pocket to pull something out. Mr. Boselli paused for a while and pulled out an airplane ticket and handed it to Kevin. Kevin took the ticket to examine it.

"American Airlines flight 7495 from Ontario Airport to Buffalo, New York", Kevin read the ticket out loud. He then pulled out a receipt from Hertz Rent-a-car and said excitedly, "Ooh, a Chrysler Sebring convertible."

Then, Frank approached Boselli and told him, "I know something about a guy named Josh that my be of interest to you"
