The Goddess of Hollywood: Miss Denise Richards

In the midst of time and energy spent trying to gather information for all you hopelessly dedicated fans (you know who you are), I've managed to retrieve these bits of information:

Denise was born in Downers Grove, Illinois in 1973. During her freshman year in high school, she moved to Southern California and attended El Camino High School in Oceanside (about like 20 minutes down the San Diego freeway from where I live). In 1990 (I think) she was in the Miss Teen USA pageant, and I think she even became Miss California. Seven years later, my cousin was in the Miss Teen USA pageant and almost became Miss California (congratulations anyway =)). Anyway, back to Denise...After high school, she started modeling and came out in Seventeen magazine and Cosmo (I think). After modeling for about two years (including a couple of months living in Japan), she made her first TV appearance in 1989 in the show "Life Goes On" (if I remember correctly, it's the one with the dude named Corky). She made other TV appearances in "Married With Children" (1990, I think), "Seinfeld" (1993, I'm pretty sure), and "Melrose Place" (1996).

Her first "big break" was in "Starship Troopers" in the summer of 1997, where she plays a girl named Carmen who takes on an army of hostile computer-generated bugs and (of course) comes out victorious. In the spring of 1998, she came out in the movie "Wild Things" with Neve Campbell where the two lovely young ladies share a steamy love scene together. One starnge thing about the movie "Wild Things" is that her character is *very* similar to the character she played in "Melrose Place." See the comparison below. Currently, she has no boyfriend (WOO-HOO!!!!)....well, at least I don't think she does (oh).

Had I not been at the other side of the country at the time, I could have attended the premiere of "Wild Things" at the Bruin Theater in Westwood, CA with backstage passes and the whole deal. One can imagine how upset one can be when the opportunity is right here waiting for you, but you are all the way over there. So, needless to say, I kicked myself in the butt (and it hurt) for missing the opportunity to meet (and even get my flirt on with) Miss Richards. Oh well...all I can do is wait for the sequel (so I can catch the premiere) and gather more information about this gorgeous young actress in the meanwhile. Currently, she is working on two film projects, "Taillights Fade," and "Dairy Queens," both due out sometime in 1999 (the year that I graduate..."Freedom!! Sweet Freedom!!!").
