"God Help the Goats"
Written by Kelly and Maggie O'Connor (michellekwanrules@juno.com)
To the tune of "God Help the Outcasts" from _The Hunchback
of Notre Dame_. Music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Stephen
Schwartz.
Received via e-mail 8/11/98.
Note from Kelly:
The song is sung in a babyish sort of timid real cute little voice (a
fweet is a word me and my sister made up for a goat, or the sound a goat
makes.)

"God Help the Goats"

Djali: I thought if just one person could stand up for him! What do they
have against us goats anyway. Sure we may sometimes eat trash (slow music
playing) and people wooden artwork, but we'd never hurt anyone I provide
companionship for Esmeralda. We do lots of good things. We're just so
misunderstood. We're not dirty or vulgar, we're actually quite clean!
What do they have against us.

Archdeacon: Hush KID you can't right all the wrongs in this world by
yourself.

Djali: Yeah well no one out there is gonna help.

Archdeacon: Perhaps there's someone in here who can....

(Djali trots up to the statue, and in a sweet, small, timid babyish voice sings.)

I don't know if you can hear me, or if you're even there.
I don't know If you would listen to a small goat's prayer.
Yes I'm only just an animal, I shouldn't baaaa to you.
Still I see your face and wonder, were you once a goat too....

God help the Goats
Hungry for cans.
Show us carved figures we can't find on earth.
God help the goats.
We look to you still.
God, understand us cause nobody does.

Fweet fweet fweet fweet
baa baa baa baaa
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat.
Fweet fweet fweet baaaa
bleat bleat bleat fweet
baaa baa baa fweet fweet fweet bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat!!!!!!!

I ask for nothing,
I have Esme
But I know so many less lucky than I
You may be asking,
what's got his goat.
But I thought we all were the creatures of God
God Help the goats the fweets of Goooooooooood!
