====================================================== "God Help the Outcasts" parody Written by Brynna Coleman (brynnac@juno.com) To the tune of "God Help the Outcasts" (pop version) from _The Hunchback of Notre Dame_. Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, music by Alan Menken. (c) 1998 by Brynna Coleman. Received 2/12/98. ------------------------------------------------------ "God Help the Outcasts" I know I am just a small voice, But hear the words I say; This song truly has a message, It's not just some clich`e. Yes, I know that it won nothing, `Twas rarely even heard, But then I think again and wonder, Did they listen to one word? "God Help the Outcasts", Such a true song. One that you feel like You've known all along. But one line is truest, Which is sadder still, "God help the outcasts, Or nobody will...." So large a spectrum, I know this, I've seen; Too short and too tall, And all in between. Let them look past the surface, So more can "fit in". I'd be more specific, But where to begin? I've sometimes felt that I was worthless, And wondered, "Who's to blame?" But then I turned around and realized..... We built this world, But could we have, If all thought the same?? God help the outcasts That live today. Just one tiny difference And they're pushed away. Please, Lord, I beg you, I pray and I sing, Teach us that "normal"; There is no such thing. Just listen...remember That no one is flawed. We're in this together, The children of God......
