Site will be updated when I have time. People are always welcome to write their comments and contributions to me, but don't be too surprised if it takes me a couple of months or years to get to them.

March 23, 2007 - Wow, time flies...I haven't done much to the FAQ in the past couple of years and could barely remember how to log into the account to edit this page. I finally got around to watching the Mulan II sequel and updated the page on it. Someday I hope to have free time to go through the original Mulan DVD special edition like I mentioned in my last entry. Will also add some cast members credits on the voice actors page.
March 3, 2005 - Well, life has been very busy (but pleasant) for the Mulan FAQ maintainer, which means I haven't been maintaining the FAQ much. About the only big news is the sequel, which I haven't seen. One day I'd like to go through the 2-disc original Mulan DVD more carefully and write a review. I also hope in the future to include more non-Disney Mulan stuff.
October 31, 2004 - As Shan-Yu would say, "Boo!" Happy Halloween. The Mulan Special Edition DVD was released a few days ago, and it's great. The extra stuff is very interesting (and may I say the filmmakers definitely made the right decisions). There's also stuff about the Mulan sequel included. I've updated some information (mostly little factoids).
July 22, 2004 - Sad day...Jerry Goldsmith, who composed the score for Mulan and about 200 other films and TV series, died yesterday at age 75 from a long battle with cancer.
July 20, 2004 - Some more tinkering...Since some FAQ answers were getting too big for the main page, I've been moving them to their own pages. Follow the links carefully!
July 19, 2004 - Finally, some updates! Biggest news: the 2-disc "Special Edition DVD" coming out October 26, 2004. This looks like it will be an impressive package and it will probably soon get its own page on the FAQ site. I've also fixed up the FAQ, getting rid of some dead links, updating the variations section to include the live action films, and polishing up other segments.
January 12, 2004 - It's a new year, and I hate to open with a downer, but...News is that Disney is planning to close the Florida animation studio. Mulan, of course, was the first full-length animated feature to come from that studio. Other films done there include Lilo and Stitch and Brother Bear. I hope things work out for the many animators and other staff in Florida and that better times are on their way.
July 17, 2003 - Boy, have I been bad at updating lately and writing back. Sorry! But big news: there are four--count 'em--four Mulan movies in being planned at this time. In addition to the Disney sequel (which as far as I know is still a direct to video/DVD film, but things can change) there are three live action films planned.
September 22, 2002 - Updated the sequels page with news that Michelle Kwan will be voicing a shopkeeper in "Mulan 2." Thanks to Heather for the tip. Also fixed up the cast page.
September 7, 2002 - Found out George Takei will be returning for the Mulan sequel...Not much else new actually--I've been busy. I'm hoping in October to get a wad of free time to tinker with the FAQ and upgrade with some new stuff. We'll see...and apologies at being so bad at answering e-mail for the last few months...
May 20, 2002 - Take a close look at "The Lion King" spoof trailer for the upcoming Disney film "Lilo and Stitch." There's something hanging on the bedroom wall behind Lilo's older sister...
April 2, 2002 - Added info about a live-action TV series aired in Taiwan with English translations of each episode.
March 22, 2002 - Sequel information now has its own page. Thanks to Mary and Marc for the alerts. Also, there's a live-action (non-Disney) Mulan movie reportedly in the works. More info to follow.
March 18, 2002 - Boy, this site is getting stagnant! I'll be posting a little info about the Mulan sequels later this week, but in the meantime I'm trimming the main FAQ page by moving all the music/lyric info onto its own page.
October 31, 2001 - Happy Halloween! (Or as Shan-Yu would say, "Boo!") I've done some fall cleaning. I've updated the timeline page and also removed the list of opening dates from the main FAQ page since so much of the information was redundant. An appropriate link is now in its place. And I've taken out two years worth of "What's New" updates. They're not so new now. In the meantime, I also got to see an episode of the new PBS show "Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat" based on Amy Tan's book. Very cute and a nice introduction to other cultures.
October 8, 2001 - Wow, it's been a long time...Not much new to add except Geocities sends me reports that this site has been getting a lot of hits and occasionally has to be shut down because of that. Uh-oh...So, when I get a chance, I will be trimming away stuff that is rarely (or never) viewed and hopefully keep things running. Thanks for reading.
June 29, 2001 - I've graduated, I've moved, I'm about to start work...and I've haven't been keeping up with e-mail or the FAQ. Fortunately, sharp eyes like Mary's have found more info on the Mulan sequel. According to the Internet Movie Data Base, the release date is 2003 and Ming-Na, Lea Salonga, B.D. Wong, and Donny Osmond will reprise their roles.
April 21, 2001 - Graduation Day is coming!! So the FAQ has sort of taken a backseat to a number of activities...Sorry I am so bad at responding to e-mails lately! Speaking of e-mails, I am losing the old college account soon and thus have a different address now. I'm going to go out and enjoy the fine spring day.
March 7, 2001 - Big thanks to Mary for uncovering an article on today's issue of Variety. In the article "'Peter Pan' Vid Grows up" there's the following sentence:

"The studio is also working on video premiere sequels to "Tarzan" and "Mulan," and the first animated movie sequel to 1967's Disney animated theatrical release "The Jungle Book."

So there you have it. Now Disney sequels (like any other movie sequels) have varied in quality. Some sequels are really really awesome. Some sequels are entertaining, but still not as good as the original. And some sequels would be better if they had never been made. So if a Mulan sequel is in the works, I just hope it's a good one, and not one I would dread or regret seeing. Here's hoping.

I know I keep promising to update some of the stuff I've been getting onto this website. We'll see what I can do this month. (FAQ counter: 115,862.)

January 24, 2001 - Happy Chinese New Year! As you can probably guess, things have been very very busy here as I start looking at life after graduation. So I have some new stuff that will trickle onto this website someday. Keep watching this space. In the meantime, consider checking out the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Amazing martial arts, some really strong female characters, and really good storytelling.
