And you don't get junk mail either!
There are many companies on the internet that pay you money (commonly about 50 cents an hour) while you are surfing the WWW.
Some are more intergrated, and unintrusive than others.
Here are some and there merits and bad things:
Note : Some of the companies that pay, only pay to the USA and Canada, the ones listed here pay internationly.
Some of these will work while others are working too. For example, you can have both AllAdvantage, and Spedia advert bars earning at the same time.
If you do this, you can place them over the top of each other, but they must not be docked (that means, they are not attached to the bottom or top of your screen), but they both want to be on top, so they alternate at quite a rate. If you can tolarate this, I recommend you do, as this will take up less space on you desktop.
All the pay per ad view companies I have come across, allow you to build up you payment over as many months as you want, but only send out a check to you once a set value is reached, commonly 20 or 30 dollars.
Undock the advert bars. This allows them to be placed over each other. Also, when they are docked, they are attached to both edges of the screen, even if the adverts don't fill the space, by undocking, only the required width is used.
When docked, no other programs are alowed to overlap the advert bar, so when you undock, resize you web browser to take up all the space the bar doesn't contain (or less if you want, I won't force you), as if the main browser window goes under the adverts, you may have difficulty seeing that part of the web pages, and will never see the base of any pages.
If you are someone that doesn't use the buttons and menus at the top of the browser, you could place the advert bars here, and not lose any browser height.
So now you know how to get the most while browsing the internet, but if you have a dedicated internet connection, you can get paid while doing normal things on your computer, as long as you have Internet Explorer 4 (IE4) or above.
All you need to do, is start IE instead of other microsoft applications. The easiest example is to explore your computer, don't open 'My Computer', open IE, and enter the drive letter you want when the web address goes, press enter, and IE turns into Windows Explorer, but as far as the advert bar knows, you are on the web and you get paid.
If you frequently go to a directory, don't close it when you are done, minimize. Next time you want it, press on the task bar button for it, and up it pops, and so do the advert bars. And this will make you more productive anyway, as you won't have to navigate there again.
You can also do the same for exploring you network, instead of using 'Network Neighborhood' use IE. Then just type the computer name in to the URL box, preceeded by 2 back slashes (i.e. \\ComputerName ) or the IP Address.
And as I said before, if you use Microsoft software (and you can't but help it sometimes), open IE, find the file you want to use (make sure you use a normal windows explorer for this, otherwise this won't work!), and drag and drop the file into the IE main window, and hey presto, IE becomes the application, but the Advert Bar keeps updating. Just nudge the mouse if the light turns red and you earn money.
All view bars (that I know of) only pay while the computer is in use, and most only pay while a browser is in use. A large amount of people have dedicated internet conections, so wouldn't it be great if you could get the view bars to think you are using the computer when you are not?
Well now you can. This program makes your browser stay active, by changing the URL and moving the mouse for you. And just when you were going to invest in the Mindstorm Robots Lego set to move the mouse while you were gone too.
Warning: This is against the rules, and I am in no way condoning this. And some of the bars are activly looking for fake surf (which you can get from the above site), and flagging your account as frudulant. You have been warned!
Spedia use to pay you for the privalege of displaying adverts on your web page, and give you a short URL. Now they no longer pay for this due to fruadulant activity, but the short URL is still available.
The format of the new URL is :
Your_Spedia_Username.Spedia.net
So mine is http://kerrin.spedia.net as my user name is Kerrin. Short isn't it?
And all this does is pop up a Spedia advert in a seperate window (GeoCities style).
If you create a web page like this, to show people how great pay per surf companies are, and get them to be your referals, then obviously you want as many people to visit your page as possible. This is done by having content people want to see on you other pages too (not your life story unless you are interesting to OTHER people, or famous!), and have links from other peoples pages and search engines. This can be done many ways, submit pages to search engines (most have a small link somewhere to do so, try at the bottom/top of the page). Exchange links with other people, especially people with similar pages. Join banner exchange programs like Link Exchange, and join web rings, it is suprising how many people web rings bring in!
You can also attempt to get people you surf on to your web page to become a psudeo friend (see later, paid for having friends) and get money for their surfing too.
Refer your friends. Tell them how last month, for having this little bar on your desktop, you earnt 50 dollars. You will actually, be earning this money, as the normal reaction is, 'Yeah, whats the catch?' and then they refuse to believe you when you say that the catch is the bar and that is it.
And why does this get you money? Because you get paid for the time they are on line, and their frineds, and their friends, and ...
The number of referal levels you get paid for depends on the company, as does the rate you get paid, but if you think about the potential, it could soon mount up to a large number!
And how do the company know you refered them? Because the URL you send them contains your reference number or use name.
The specifics are company dependant, but you should have no trouble finding how, as they want you to get more people for them.
You can also put these links on your web page and get people you've never met as a direct referal too, although don't count on it. As most peole are not going to be persuded to
Something totally unrelated to adverts!
There is a company that 'pays' for you to take surveys. Just go here to Green Field On Line.
When I say pays, I mean, you are in with a chance of recieving something. These surveys are frequently, one or two questions. For example, 'Do you buy things on the internet?'....thank you, you may now win a digital camera or one of many cash prizes upto 100 dollars, for the 1 minute you just spent here.
Spedia has the option to recieve junk mail for points (and points mean money), at time of writting it was about 10 cents an e-mail.
But Spedia have left this as an opt in, which means it is off by default. If you want to get paid for a little more junk mail, that if you've been on the internet long, you will have the ability to delete junk mail with-out even realizing you recieved it.
Some e-mail programs can be set up to automatically delete e-mails, and junk mail can be identified by some of these. Others can direct suspect e-mails, or e-mails from a set source to a different folder, like your delete folder!
Have a look at your e-mail programs help for this.
Well, there is a web page that allows you to put 'all' your referal IDs in, and then you just send people to that page.
It's called MaxReferal and it is a great service
For your benifit, here is an actual registration form for Clicks4U. If you have a web site this should be a good one.
So is advert bars for everyone? In short, not quite. If you have a slow modem, the little extra data sent to your computer (the adverts) isn't worth it, if you pay your phone bill on a per minute bases it could cost almost as much to get the advert as you get paid (although I doubt it unless you still have one of the REALLY early modems).
If you have a dedicated web conection, this most certainly IS for you. You'd be a fool not to
Spedia is the best free money provider that I've come accross so far, because it pays for you to see adverts on a small bar, is very user friendly, not to obtrusive, gives you a short web page adrress, pays above average rates, allows you to get paid for putting adverts on you web page.
The only real disadvantages are that they do charge taxes and postage from your 'earnt' money, and only pay once you payable amount is above 30 dollars, which may be a long while for low usage users.
For other ways to make free money, visit this site which lists many web sites that pay for web based things.
