About Spender


Special Agent Jeffrey Spender first appeared in The X-Files in the fifth season two-parter "Patient X" and "The Red and the Black." He clashed with Agents Mulder and Scully because of his sensitivity over his mother's claim of being an alien abductee. It appeared at this time that his father was the delightfully evil Cigarette-Smoking Man.

Spender showed up again in the fifth season finale "The End," where he continued his (in Mulder's paraphrased words) ambitious, arrogant, secretive behavior. He finally shared a scene with his father, Cigarette-Smoking Man.

Spender is played by Canadian actor Chris Owens, who has previously appeared in The X-Files as Young Cigarette-Smoking Man in "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man" and "Demons." He also appeared in the episode "Post-Modern Prometheus" as Mutato. You can find the rest of his filmography at IMDb.
