Forces:
Loyalist EA
1 Nova Dreadnought "Relentless"
3 flights of Thunderbolts, no missiles
1 flight of Starfuries
Point Total : 2992
Minbari
4 Whitestars
Point Total : 3000
Starting range 68, fighters still in hangar.
All 2E rules that I am aware of in use: Initiative, damage, updated Thunderbolt, DRP jammer.
Turn 1-3 :
No fire. EA deploys fighters, and the Nova closes in under full DEW
cover with some weapons powered dows for extra EW. Whitestars shut down
jammer and pulsars in order to charge the Improved Neutron Cannons for
sustained fire.
Turn 4 :
EA still closing in, fighters out of range. The Whitestars open
fire with their NC's from 42 hexes. One NC hits, and does severe
structure damage.
Turn 5 :
EA is still out of range for serious weapon fire, and the fighters
accelerate to attack speed (20!). The Whitestars decellerate, and
continue to pump the Nova with NC fire. The front structure is ripped
off, and some primary damage occurs.
Turn 6 :
The Nova still does not fire, being effectively out of range. The
Whitestars pump their third turn of sustained fire into the Nova,
destroying it. The fighters overshoot the Whitestars and end up one hex
behind them. They open fire, doing minimal damage to all four
Whitestars.
Turn 7 :
With the Nova out of the way, the Whitestars turn around shutting
off their NC's, and turning their jammer and MP's on. The fighters try
to stop, and come in for another pass.
Turn 8 :
EA fighters accelerate towards the Whitestars, and the Whitestars
open fire with MP's and full OEW. The last thing the fighters see is a
flurry of pulse fire coming in their way, and depart for a better world
in fighter pilot heaven (Average about 2.5 pulses per fighter).
Conclusions :
The Whitestar is worth their points, if starting at long ranges.
3 turn sustained fire is nasty.
Whitestars eat fighters alive with MP fire.
Recommendations :
If EA had sent all the fighters on one WS at a time, things would
have been a little different, with maybe one WS destroyed.
