Comings, goings and other casting rumors

Kevin Stapleton has been let go from OLTL. His last airdate is reportedly sometime in April.

The rumor that Laura Koffman is being replaced is not true at this point.

Timothy Gibbs will be joining OLTL as Kevin Buchanan.

Pam Long has replaced the fired soap opera legend Claire Labine and Matt Labine as head writer. Long has previously worked on both Santa Barbara and Guiding Light.

Will Kempe's last airdate was last week. His character, Ian, was killed in a plane crash.

Reportedly, Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps wishes to add A Martinez (ex-Cruz, Santa Barbara) to the OLTL cast.

Hillary B. Smith will be staying with the show for at least a few months longer. Her new contract expires in December of 1998.

Kale Browne (ex-Michael Hudson on Another World) will begin airing as lawyer Sam Rappaport on March 5, who will be recurring and also will figure into Todd's storyline.

Reportedly, OLTL wishes to bring back the character of Drew Buchanan.

Marva Hicks (Jacara) has been let go. Her last airdate is likely to be in late March.

Spoilers

As the Cramer farmhouse burns, Kevin is badly injured this week on OLTL. Miss Stonecliff has started a fire in the attic where she has locked herself and Sonya's body (Dorian accidentally killed Sonya when she struck her on the head to prevent her from killing Cassie). "Mel, Cassie, and Kevin are running to get out the farmhouse," KS explains. "right over Cassie's head, a piece of the ceiling is falling. Kevin pushes her out the way and it falls on him.'"

He has a hairline fracture of the skull, three broken ribs, and burns on 30 percent of his body, which is mostly the arms and hands, and the lower portions of his legs.

Viki and Clint arrive in Canton, where Viki confronts Dorian about her responsibility for Kevin's injuries. KS feels that Viki is justified in blaming Dorian, even though Kev went of his own free will, and Dorian could not have predicted the outcome of this horrible situation.

"Every time they get involved in something with Dorian, it turns sour for the Buchs," KS notes. "That's why Viki didn't want Kev after Cassie in the first place. She said, I have a feeling something bad is going to happen."

As for Cassie, she is keeping vigil at her lover's side, begging him to stay alive, "Nobody knows if Kevin is going to come through," KS adds.
