Disclaimer: Wolfsbane belongs to Marvel Comics no copywrite infringement is intended. This story is written for fun only and should not be tried at home. Note to the readers: 1st: This story is a one shot deal. Meaning that it will not tie into any other stories I will be posting in the future. If by some chance I decide to write a sequel I will warn all of you ahead of time. 2nd: For this story Rahne is in her early twenties, about 21. It's a possible adventure she will have later in life. Also her powers will have changed as she's gotten older so bare with me okay? I'll try not to mess her up too badly. I do make it a point not to anger wild Highland Werewolves, it's not very healthy. 3rd: The events in this story will not follow the events in any other story within the "Wolfsbane Chronicles" With that said you have been warned, so if you're still with me: "Wolfsbane's Journey" by Mindy L. Tankesly Part 1 Muir Island, Scotland Early morning The Lab- Rahne Sinclair walked into the lab with a really large cup of coffee in her hand. With a tired yawn she positioned herself on the corner of a nearby table and looked around the small room with disinterested eyes. The young woman had been up for the better part of two days and wasn't all that thrilled about having to come down to the lab to look at some weird space probe, what had washed up off the coast of Northern Ireland late last night. (Nor did she like having to dive into 50 below zero water to retrieve the bloody thing to begin with.) In all Rahne's whole week was shaping up to be a real pain. "You should be asleep," Forge said coming up to her side. "An miss the big announcement? Na bloody likely. Ah went ta a lot of trouble ta retrieve that thing, so ya ken do ya magic wit it." Rahne replied with a mischeivious glint in her green eyes. "Magic, huh?," Forge said with a raised eyebrow, his own eyes shining. "I'll try not to disappoint you. I thought you hated coffee?" He added after a moment. "Ah do, but it's the only thing that'll keep me awake. Well this an watchin the President address the Nation back in the States, ah kenna seem to fall asleep after that." "Hey, Forge, you better take a look at this," one of the people called out from the probe. As Forge moved over to the probe and the group surrounding it, Rahne put down her coffee and stiffed a bit. Something wasn't right, she thought as her unique abilities kicked in subconsciouslly and she begun to shapeshift from human to werewolf. In all the years of her powers being active, she was still getting used to the 'instinctive' reactions she had every now and then. Noone was really sure how it worked, she never did test high in the telepathic realm, although, a teammate did claim Rahne was a closet 'empath'. Whatever the reason she had always been able to tell when she one was trying to scan her and when danger was approaching. "Get oot of 'ere!," she yelled leaping forward, as acting 'security' for this little experiment Rahne was responsible for keeping everyone safe which is why she hasn't slept in days. "NOW!!!" The people, her teammates, were long used to Rahne and her mutant abilities, and when she said move they knew she meant it. It had meant their lives countless times in the past. Almost immediately the group begins to disperse, anyway they can. With a bunch of mutants present that can be very impressive. Rahne was the last to leave or try to anyway. She had just reached the lid of the containment box the probe had been placed in after Rahne had fished it out of the North Sea. She was going to seal it and leave before it could do what ever it was going to do. She had the lid half closed when an unbelievable amount of energy expelled out of the now glowing space probe. The young Scot was hit with what felt like a small planet that had broken it's orbit and came slamming into her. Elsewhere The Hill Country Western border of the Empire- Rahne first became aware of a sharp pain in her head as she drifted toward consciousness. The second thing she became aware of was the sound of birds signing and the smell of grass??? Which was odd, since the last time Rahne had checked it was the middle of winter and snow was on the ground! Come to think of it, it was nice and warm too. Then she became aware of something else, the sounds of birds has stopped. Rahne could hear voices approaching as well, something was definately wrong here she thought rolling over. BAD, BAD, move she thought as her head begun to swim, rather violently. "Riders!," she said fighting the waves of dizziness threatening to consume here. Lost, alone, and no telling how far from home she thinks rapidly. 'Have ta work oot a plan,' she thinks trying to stand. 'But first Ah 'ave ta find a safe place to rest up, then figure oot where ah am,' she thought as the riders got closer to her. Shapeshifting for Rahne was pretty much an involuntary action for her, she had shifted so many times over the years that it was as natural as breathing to her. However, there were times that her body liked to remind her that changing forms wasn't always a good idea, especially when you had the makeings of a first rate headache. Pushing aside the pain and the nausea that threatened to overwhelm her she continued to shift form into that of a full wolf. Once there she paused to get her bearings, the world was suddenly a brighter to her. Rahne liked being a werewolf, although, it did take her some time to become comfortable with her mutant abilities. Once she got her bearings, she made a quick assessment of her situation. She was wounded, if the pain in her head and shoulder were any indication, and she was lost. Rahne didn't like that last part one bit. Her wounds would heal, were healing themselves actually as the pounding in her head slowly easied into a dull roar. However, being lost was another matter interely and running on a busted shoulder always put her in a bad mood. Of course, sitting there waiting for those riders to show up wasn't going to help if they were hostile. Better make a run for it now then worry about hostiles after she was 100% again. With that in mind, Rahne takes off in the other direction intent on finding a place to rest up. End part 1 Aren't I really cruel????
