Wolfsbane InFrequently Asked Questions
This is really the place for any miscellaneous information on Rahne,
the stuff that doesn't fit in well anywhere else, and now on with the inFAQ.
- Just how do you pronouce her name?
As stated in Katya's Excalibur FAQ:
'Rain', as in the liquid that falls from the sky, stated in numerous cannonical
sources
eg. X-Factor#74
Havok: What do you think of Rahne?
Polaris: It makes the plants grow...
Havok: No, I mean Rahne Sinclair, Wolfsbane.
- What's her relationship with Reverend Craig?
He raised her as a Ward of the Church, since her mother died in childbirth.
From various sources we know that even before he powers manifested themselves
Rev. Craig made life very hard for Rahne ("He bleedin' hated me.."
-Rahne in X-Factor#87). However when he powers developed be had her hunted
over the moors, so the she could be burned as a witch as a means to exorcise
her. Fortunately Moira MacTaggert stopped this. The most serious effect
that Rev. Craig had on Rahne was the Fundamentalist upbringing she got,
this has coloured her whole life - she herself thought originally that
her powers were due to the Devil, and it took months before she could tolerate
Nightcrawler, or Magick's sorcery.
Recently (Exc.93) it has been hinted at the Rev. Craig is her father, and
all the hate towards her is because Rahne reminded him of his illicit affair
with her mother.
- How old is she?
By my own reckoning, she is aged about 18, about half a year younger
than Kitty Pryde (18.5 - 19 by my estimates). There are several reasons
behind this, firstly the ratio at which Marvel characters tend to age (~1yr
every 36 issues, ie.1/3 of normal), as she was introduced in late 1982
aged 14, that puts her at about 18-19 years old. Also, in Exc.91, the pub
issue, if Rahne had been less than 18 she would have objected that she
was underage, (UK laws), despite the fact that she didn't drink any alcohol.
- I heard she's beated Wolverine at some time, is that true?
Ah, my rumour had an effect, bwahahahahahah (sounds of evil laughter
trailing off). Seriously though, she has, in the Wolverine Annual 'Rahne
of Terra', when she and Logan were transported to an alternate earth. She
tore his throat out (ew...gross)
- Just what happened to her in Genosha?
She was turned into a mutate by the Genegeneer, which meant she was
a mindless slave as a human, but a whole lot more powerful as a werewolf.
She was also bonded to Alex Summers (then Magistrate Summers) in a Master/Slave
Relationship, which resulted in her extreme 'crush' on him in Early X-Factor
Issues (71+).
- So why can she can turn human again?
Haven cured her in X-Factor#99. Since then she has lost the 'crush',
and it able to turn human.
- Your biography mentions a healing factor - since when has she had
that?
Since the New Mutants Graphic Novel - Professor X mentioned it a couple
of times, the writers seen to have forgotten it. Wolfsbane's healing factor
isn't as good as Wolverine's, it took her about 48hrs to heal near-mortal
injuries, but it still exists.
- So she's a tough customer then?
Yep, but she's only at her most deadly when she gets mad, eg. X-Factor#84
- she takes Feral apart. However, she tends to lose control and has killed
a man because of it(X-Factor#76)
- So where was she during the Age of Apocalyse?
Unfortunately she ended up as McCoy's pet, in Factor-X. Well, that's
the conclusion I've got. The facts are: McCoy has a russet-haired wolf
as a pet. This wolf has a human mind buried deep within it's conciousness(Factor-X
3). Who else could it be?
