Statement
on the Terrorist Attacks in the U.S.
Please forgive my perceived need to climb up on my soap
box again, but this is my forum to air my views of world events. If you have not already heard of these
events, CLIMB OUT OF YOUR CAVE AND GET A CLUE.
As a United
States citizen, of course I am outraged by the events that have taken place
today. However, it gives an opportunity
to raise an interesting issue.
Most U.S.
citizens would like to continue to believe the government position denouncing
international terrorism. We would like
to believe that our government would not engage in creating this kind of scene
in areas throughout the world.
Unfortunately, this isn’t true.
Most of the
people commenting on this stream of attacks believe that the most likely person
to be able to pull of this kind of attack is Saudi militant (and likely
psychotic) Osama bin Laden, who is
believed to be responsible for masterminding the bombing of two United States
embassies in Africa in 1998. Would one
of these political idiots like to step forward and apologize to the citizens of
the United States for training bin Laden in terrorism and subversion?
That’s right…unconfirmed
reports have come out from several sources since the embassy bombings and the
original World Trade Center bombing that the United States government taught
this zealot how to perform these type of actions. Isn’t it time for us to admit that we have provoked these actions
and are ourselves partly responsible?
Shouldn’t we follow our own demands and not provide aid to international
terrorists?
I’m not saying that we
should return to isolationism like we did in the pre-World War II era. I do believe that we might consider the
repercussions of training people to kill thousands of civilians in an act of
terror. We have had other cases of CIA
trained soldiers in other countries going rogue, but this scale is admittedly
unheard of. (i.e. Fidel Castro) These are not military professionals
attacking military targets like we had in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor
in December of 1941. It seems fairly
obvious that one isn’t of sound mind if they want to engage in killing large
quantities of civilians to achieve their political and or religious goals. Exactly what about that make our government
think that they can control or at least trust this type of individual completely
escapes me. I suppose an insider
somewhere can counter this in his own mind with many instances where we have
used somebody to our advantage and then we killed the perpetrator or something.
Our condolences go out to
the families and victims. Today will
forever change things for us as travelers, too. No more curbside check ins at the airport, the distinct
possibility of surface to air missiles at high profile locations. (Hey, mom, I want to ride Mickey’s
Missiles.) We will eventually have to
buckle to the loss of freedom that most modern nations currently feel. However, most of these nations have already
experienced more outside terrorist attacks than the United States has been
forced to endure. It is a sad day for
the world…. America is the symbol of freedom whether people like it or
not. Today America is wounded.
