[Next morning, Robin feeding Mark; Stone enters]
S: Are you still upset?
R: Would it matter if I was?
S: You know it would.
R: I just can't believe you coud think my miscarriage was a good thing.
S: I don't think it's a good thing. I'm just thinking in practical purposes.
R: Would you like to tell me how miscarrying is practical?
S: I'm not going to do this Robin. I'm not going to argue this with you right now. I'm sorry you
lost the baby, I don't know how you feel, I'm trying to find the words to make you feel better
but I'm obviously not doing well. So instead of making you feel worse, I think I'll leave now and
take Anna to playgroup. (Leaves room; doorbell rings, Stone answers) (Somberly) Hi Brenda.
What's wrong with you?
S: Do you know about Robin?
B: She told me yesterday. I wanted to check up on her. How's she doing?
S: She's upset, mostly at me.
B: What'd you do?
S: She'll tell you about it. (Turns towards the stairs) Anna! Let's go! (Anna comes down, they
leave)
[Fade out; Back in, Brenda and Robin talking at kitchen table]
R: I know he's right. I do see a few positive things about what happened, but I still have this
feeling that he didn't want the baby in the first place.
B: You know that's not true.
R: You didn't hear him Brenda. He went on about how we were at the peaks of our careers,
we already had 2 kids, we hadn't planned this pregnancy...
B: But Robin, that's just like im, to try to find the positive side in something so horrible. And you
said yourself, you see some positive things too. (Pause) Have you told Stone the way you feel?
R: Yes
B: Really?
R: Well, I sort of accused him of never wanting the baby.
B: Do you wanna hear what I think?
R: I have a feeling you're going to tell me anyway.
B: That's right, I am. I think you're just super emotional. I mean, you did lose a part of your
body, you're bound to feel some sort of loss.
(Sound of a car pulling up, door opens and closes. Stone enters)
S: Are you feeling better Robin?
B: Yes she is. And she's ready to make up with you. She realizes that she was very emotional
and needed to let it all out and you were an easy target.
S: She did?
R: (looks at Brenda) I did?
B: Yes. (looks proud of herself) Now you can kiss and make up.
S: I'm sorry I wasn't more understanding of your feelings.
R: I'm sorry I accused you of never wanting the baby. (They hug)
B: Now this is what I like to see. I love you guys! (Hugs Robin and Stone, all laugh, fade out)"
The End
