Revelations 12 tells of the Devil's fall to earth, comparing him to a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads.(v. 3)
The dragon goes on to torment the woman who had borne the male child(v. 12), clearly referring to the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. It would be later explained
in Revelations 17 that the seven heads are . . . seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come . . .(v. 9, 10). At the time of the
writing of the Book of Revelations, the emporer Nero, a sadistic murderer and a nemesis of the Christian church had recently died. It has widely been believed that he represented the sixth
head, the king who is. Noting that the dragon tormented the mother of Christ, a Jewish woman, and that Christianity evolved from Judaism, it could be said Hitler's attempted annihilation of the Jews during World War II would coincide
with Nero's persecution of Christians as Christianity evolved from Judaism. With Hitler as the seventh head of the dragon, the next step of the prophesy is due.
Revelations 13 tells the emergence of the Anti-Christ: And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems upon its horns and a blasphemous name upon its heads . . .
And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority(v. 1, 2). The beast seems to emulate the nature of the dragon but Revelations 17:11 explains that As for the beast that
was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to perdition. In other words, the beast appears to be the eighth head/king, but in actuality it is one of the seven. Revelation 13:3 says
that one of the beast's heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, suggesting that the beast is the resurrection of an earlier king, in all likelihood, the sixth, Nero.
