As for the columns, currently there are five columns. The first, The Roundtable, is open to absolutely anyone on the net wanting to vent some frustration, or just give an opinion, or whatever, and it's put out at once a month, but only if someone has offered to write a column. Submissions out of nowhere are accepted. Another is Dave's Classics, a column where Dave can write about whatever he wants (to do with comics anyway...). Does it sound like The Roundtable? Yeah, it sort of does, but The Roundtable is by random people very month whereas Dave has many thoughts he'd like to talk about running around in his head -- too many for anything but his own column. It's currently planned to come out monthly. The third column is Toy Tirade by Eitan Shapiro. It's about the market of toys, and it comes out monthly. The fourth is called Wally's World, a column about whatever Wally Frost really wants to write about. Mainly he sticks to generalized reviews, for instance, New Year's Evil, Tangent Comics, holiday specials, et cetera. It is at least monthly, however if Wally gives me more than one a month, they both get published that month. And lastly, is the column called Tooned In. It features monthly endeavors all about the animated world of DC.
Every two months we have a poll/column: TOP TEN.... Each time a different subject is polled. For instance, our first poll was of your Top Ten DC Writers.
Other features include the articles and interviews. We like to try to get out four (total, not of articles and interviews each) per month. But actually...lately there haven't been any...
The links cover every comic and company on the internet. After all, there is more than just DC pages on the internet.
And now on Wizard World (Wizard: The Guide to Comics - Online) is the DC FANZINE Message Boards!! All of you AOL people go post there (Keyword: Wizard. Then go to the DC Message Boards section)! Also in Wizard World is the DC FANZINE Library available for download are Text files of all this great HTML stuff. (Why you would want to download Text files when Html looks better, is beyond me...)
NOTE: There is no set date for any of the publications. They mostly come out monthly, yes, but it could happen in the beginning of the month, or the end of the month. It all depends on everyone's schedule.
The original way we were planning to put out our DC FANZINE was to do a mass mailing. We hoped that advertising on AOL would be good enough. We also tried to get onto the DC Press List, but when the file conversions did not work everyone seemed to lose interest. We couldn't send anything to DC across Email cause they wouldn't be able to read it, so after all that time, the Batman Club was virtually non-existant and the DC FANZINE I was putting together was on it's own.
After about 9 months passed I finally acquired a copy of MS-WORD FOR WINDOWS 6.0. I converted the Ami Pro document into the MS-WORD file and sent it in to DC. The people there at DC Online loved it and thought it was very high-quality, and so we were placed onto the press list.
As time grew short we had to cut back on work severly. The news is no longer published, neither the previews, or even reviews. The page unfortunately has to take a back seat to life when you aren't paid to do it. What we were left with is what made us the most unique DC Comics web-site on the net. In the stead of the news and all else lost, our columns, articles, and interviews remain as strong as we have done them since we started publishing.
Wizard World has taken DC FANZINE and given it a message board on AOL! Isn't that great? For all of you AOL people, go to Keyword: Wizard, then go to the Message Boards, DC Talk Board section, and look for DC FANZINE, Okay? And soon we also having chats...see the MESSAGE BOARD AND CHATS link on the Welcome Page.
