This has happened in "Santa Barbara" Feb. 24, 1997 to Feb. 28, 1997, airing on "PTV4" in Finland (in episodes from 1987).
Mason, who is still held by the kidnappers, sees Julia and Tori in his mind. He hears them telling him to sign the paper.
Kelly, Jeffrey and Julia are on their way to search for Mason. Kelly wonders why Julia so desperately wants to find Mason, and she answers that sheīs just concerned about him like they are. Kelly thinks Julia and Mason must be pretty close friends, when they are working in the same law firm. She also remembers how much Mason liked Samantha, saying she was the most beautiful baby girl he had ever seen. Kelly figures out that Mason is Samanthaīs father, and Julia has to tell her and Jeffrey about the contract. Kelly thinks Julia must have feelings for Mason, and Julia doesnīt deny it. She tells them Tori already knows about it.
C.C and Cruz are real worried about Eden. Cruz tries to call her at the beach house, but thereīs no answer. Cruz drives home, and when he arrives there he finds the whole place turned upside down, including Edenīs wheelchair. He canīt find Eden anywhere. The phone rings, and itīs Elena. Cruz asks here where Eden is, and warns her not to play games with him. Cruz wants to talk with Eden, but Elena tells him that she canīt talk right now. Cruz wants to know where she is and what she wants. Elena then tells him to come to Seahorse Way 199 if he wants to see Eden alive. Cruz asks Elena what she has done to her, and she answers that she hasnīt done anything yet, but if he doesnīt show up there promptly alone, Eden is as good as dead. Cruz loads his gun, and takes it with him. Before he leaves, he orders Pearl and Carmen to go to the Capwell house, but tells them not to call the police.
Pearl and Carmen tell C.C and Sophia about Eden and the empty wheelchair. They also explain that Cruz probably went out looking for her alone. C.C wonders why Cruz didnīt call him. Elena calls C.C and tells him to come to the same place as Cruz. She tells him not to call the police. C.C leaves without saying anything to Sophia, Pearl and Carmen.
Cruz enters the "Laser Palace" with a drawn gun. He hears a voice telling him to "proceed at his own risk". Cruz enters an elevator. Meanwhile Elena is monitoring his every move. Cruz searches his way through a labyrinth, and Elena is following him. He finds something he believes to be Eden in a wheelchair, but it turns out to just be a doll. When he turns around, he sees Elena aiming with a laser gun at him. She orders Cruz to drop his gun, or else Eden will die. Cruz asks her where Eden is, but Elena tells him to first kick the gun over to her before she tells him anything. Cruz does what she tells him. Elena tells him that he just spoiled his last chance by giving her his gun, because her gun was a fake. She tells Cruz that she knows everything about him, and that they could have been so good together. She explains that at one time she could have done anything for him. Elena tells Cruz she will make sure he looses first, and very bitterly too.
Kelly, Jeffrey and Julia arrives at the strip club in the dessert, where they split up. Julia and Kelly sit down at different tables. They notice the Indian coming, and he notices Julia. He goes over to her table, and starts chatting with her. Julia asks him about Madame Arcana, and he tells her that Arcana is crazy. When Julia wants to ask more questions, the Indian leaves. Julia tells Kelly and Jeffrey that she probably shouldnīt have brought up Arcana, because it scared him away. They follow the Indian to the "Desperado" bar.
Cain is able to escape from the basement, and he is determined to stop Elena. He returns to the Capwell mansion and tells them he finally remembered why he kept Eden so long in the mountains; Elena wanted him to kill her. While heīs talking with Sophia and the rest, Eden suddenly shows up wondering whatīs going on. They wonder where she has been, and she tells him that Carmen had called her and told her to come to the agency, but when she came there she wasnīt there. Carmen tells her that she never called her, and that it must have been Elena. She had probably wanted to get Eden out of her way. Cain thinks Elena has found a new target, and that is Cruz.
Mason finally regains consciousness and agrees to sign the document he had refused to sign for so long.
Cruz tells Elena that Eden is more woman than she ever hope to be. Elena tells Cruz thereīs many similarities between her and Eden and that she knows he wants her. She thinks that if she had one more night together with him she would have had him, but Cruz tells her sheīs dreaming. Elena then explains to him that she has found a way to escape this mess, but that he will have to pay for it. Suddenly they hear footsteps and Elena runs away. Cruz follows her. Elena runs into a room, and locks the door from inside. Cruz screams to her to open the door. Suddenly he hears a shot from inside, and thinks itīs Eden who was shot. He breaks into the room, and finds Elena bleeding on the floor. He asks her where Eden is, and Elena answers that theyīre alone, and that Eden probably is with her mother by now. Cruz then asks her who did that to her, and she answers that the man in the mirror did it. Cruz look in the mirror and sees none other than himself. C.C shows up, and sees Cruz beside Elena with a gun in his hand. He asks Cruz what he has done, and he answers that he heard shots and saw someone run away. Cruz goes to call for an ambulance. C.C asks Elena who shot her, and she answers "Cruz, Cruz killed me daddy", which were her last words.
The Indian thinks Mason knows too much to stay alive. He plans to blow up the whole place. They attach an explosive device to Masonīs body, and leave. Julia, Kelly and Jeffrey show up shortly after. Jeffrey sees the device, and tells Julia and Kelly that they need to be extremely careful or they will be blown up.
Jeffrey tells Kelly and Julia that if they go any closer to Mason, the bomb may blow them all into pieces.
Gina tells Keith that heīs going to be a daddy thinking heīs asleep. He hears everything and canīt believe it at first, but Gina explains to him that she is pregnant. Keith is very happy, and Gina is very surprised by his reaction to the news.
Eden wants everything to be over, and Sophia tells her that it soon will be. Eden tells Sophia she wishes Elena would be dead.
Cruz comes back into the room after calling an ambulance, and he finds that Elena is dead. Cruz doesnīt think she had Eden at all, but he canīt figure out why she wanted both him and C.C there. Cruz asks C.C if she said anything to him before she died. C.C then asks Cruz what happened, and Cruz explains to him that he heard a shot, broke down the door and found Elena on the floor. He also tells C.C that he saw another person leaving the room. C.C wonders if Cruz shot her, but he tells him he didnīt. Pearl and Cain arrive at the scene, and afterwards the police. They order everybody not to move.
Jeffrey explains to Kelly they have about five minutes to defuse the explosive device. He orders them to leave while he cuts the wires. Jeffrey is able to cut all the wires successfully. They take Mason to a hospital for examination, because he is very weak.
A detective tells Cruz and C.C that he wants to know exactly everything that happened. Sophia and Eden show up, and Cain and Pearl tell them that Elena is dead, and that Cruz and C.C are being questioned by the police. Cruz tells Eden that everything finally is over, but Keith arrives, and explains to them that itīs far from over. Pearl then tells Eden that Elena was killed with Cruzīs gun, and that Elena didnīt have a gun herself.
Keith questions Cruz and C.C about Elenaīs death. He asks them if they want attorneys, but they tell him it wonīt be necessary. C.C tries to tell Keith about the terrible crimes Elena was guilty of but he explains to them that he is investigating Elenaīs murder. C.C and Cruz tell him everything they know. Keith asks Cruz if he would be ready to commit the ultimate crime of passion for Eden.
Mason tells Kelly, Jeffrey and Julia about the paper he had to sign. He also tells them that heīs going to find the Indian, and pay back. Julia explains to Mason that they think Eleanor Norris is behind everything, and that her real identity is Elena Nikolas, Alex Nikolasī
daughter.
Keith asks Cruz if Elena said anything before she died, and Cruz tells him that she had just pointed at the mirror in the room when he asked he who shot her. Then Keith questions C.C, and he tells him that he had gone through the maze when he heard a shoot. He had then found Cruz on his knees beside Elena, holding his gun. Keith wonders if Elena had any last words, but C.C tells him that she didnīt say anything, she just died in his arms. Keith finally lets Cruz and C.C go, but he warns them not to leave Santa Barbara.
C.C, Cruz, Eden and Sophia return to the mansion. Cruz asks C.C what Elena had said before she died, because he knows he was lying to Keith. Finally C.C tells Cruz that she told him that he her. He promises Cruz that he wonīt tell Keith about it. Cruz is sure the evidence will clear him.
When Julia, Kelly and Jeffrey come to see Mason in the morning, they find his bed empty. A nurse tells them that Mr. Capwell had disappeared last night. Jeffrey finds a note, which says that he (Mason) wants revenge on the Indian, who had tortured him. Jeffrey tells Julia and Kelly that heīs sure Mason has gone back to the "Pussycat Café".
Keith finds out from Elenaīs autopsy that she was shot from close range.
Cruz explains to Eden that he hasnīt been charged with anything, and is therefor a free man. Alex Nikolas visits Cruz, and wants an explanation. Cruz tells him everything that happened at the Laser Palace, but swears to him that he didnīt kill his daughter. Alex tells Cruz that Elena wouldnīt be capable of killing someone in cold blood, but Cruz tells him that she put Eden in the wheelchair by pushing him off a cliff in the mountains, she tried to kill Kelly twice in the dessert, and is probably behind Masonīs disappearance as well. Cruz asks Alex why he didnīt try to stop her, and he answers him that he really did try, but he was just a little too late.
Cruz wants C.C to tell Keith what Elena said in her dying words, but C.C says he canīt do it, because that would be like sending him to the gas chamber. Cruz wants him to tell the truth, because Keith will find out about it anyway. He explains to C.C that is he doesnīt tell Keith the whole truth, it will make him look like an idiot. Cruz tells C.C that if he doesnīt tell Keith, he will do it himself.
Mason follows one of the strippers, and finds the Indian, who canīt believe his eyes when he sees him. Mason grabs a rope from the wall, and begins hitting the Indian with it. Jeffrey, Kelly and Julia show up, and Jeffrey tries to stop Mason, but Mason pushes him away. He throws the Indian at a lighting board, and he burns to death. Mason, who is still very weak passes out, and falls to the floor.
Cruz is determined to tell Keith the truth, and he goes with Eden to talk to him. Eden doesnīt think itīs a good idea at all. Cruz tells Keith all about Elenaīs last words. Keith canīt understand what Cruz expects to gain by telling him the truth, and Cruz tells him that he just doesnīt believe in concealing evidence, but Keith doesnīt buy it. He tells Cruz he has enough evidence to rap up the case on his own, but Cruz points out that they are only circumstantial. He wonders why he hasnīt arrested him yet, but Keith says he will, but not just yet. He wants to make sure he has enough to put Cruz on Death Row for the last months of his life, waiting while appeal after appeal is rejected.
Keith confronts C.C, and wants him to tell him what Elena really said before she died.
Jeffrey shows Kelly a note he had found in one of the Indianīs pockets; a note in which Mason leaves his entire fortune to Elena.
Mason promises Julia to make Samantha a big part of his life when he returns home.
Alex Nikolas pays C.C a visit. He tells C.C that Elena was his and Pamelaīs daughter, but C.C denies it. Alex explains to him that Pamela let him raise Elena and that he raised her like his own child.
Ted isnīt in a very terrific mood. He explains to Laken that the divorce went through. Brick interrupts them, and tells them some lunatic just climbed up the billboard outside. He refuses to come down until someone offers him a descent job.
An officer shows Keith a shirt, which they think belongs to Cruz. They tells him they found it in Elenaīs apartment. Keith is sure he has seen the shirt before. He calls Cruz, and tells him that he has some new evidence that he is going to find very interesting.
Brick is very happy because he had been accepted to the Police Academy.
Keith shows the shirt they found to Cruz, and he admits itīs his, but he tells Cruz he has no idea how it got into Elenaīs closet. He thinks Elena took the shirt from his place, and planted it there. Keith then tells Cruz they also found some receipts on a pair of golden cufflinks in her apartment with Cruzīs address on them, but Cruz explains to him that he never took any gifts from her. Keith presents his own theory to Cruz; He thinks Cruz and Elena had it on for many nights, when suddenly Eden returns. Cruz then had to dump all the photos as well as all the love letters from Elena. Elena then calls up a meeting and puts up an ultimatum. Either Cruz dumps Eden, or she goes public about their long nights together. But Cruz canīt have that, and he has to get her out of his way. After hearing Keithīs "theory", Cruz tells him itīs as believable as a comic book.
Keith questions Cain, and he tells Keith that Cruz didnīt kill anyone, and that if he can help him prove it he will.
Cruz and Eden search through their place to find the cufflinks, which they think Elena or someone else might have planted there. Finally Eden finds one. Eden asks Cruz if Elena might have planted it there, and he answers that itīs either her or somebody else who is determined to set him up to take the fall.
Ted joins T.J at the billboard to help promote his new winecooler. Soon Laken, Jake and Hayley also join them.
Keith asks Sophia why Cruz withdrew from the family after Eden was presumed dead. Sophia answers that he was grieving, and wanted to be alone. Keith however has another theory, which he tells to Sophia. He thinks Cruz was ashamed, and thought he didnīt deserve their friendship, because Mrs. Norris had offered him a different kind of comfort and he took it.
Cruz thinks the only person who can think would want to harm both him and Elena is Cain, but Eden tells him that Cain would never do something like that to her, because he knows how much she loves him.
Keith asks Carmen about the "picnic" at Saint-Clair Island. He wonders why she left the island before Cruz and Eleanor. Carmen admits she tried to get them together until they really found out who Eleanor was. She tells Keith that Cruz isnīt a killer, and that he and Elena had nothing going on.
Cruz goes over to the Capwells to talk to Cain. He asks him where he was the night Elena got killed. Cain answers him that he was with Pearl. Cain tells Cruz that he wouldnīt have anything to gain by setting Cruz up, but Cruz thinks it would be a good way to get him out of the way for the next twenty or thirty years. Cain then explains to Cruz that he wouldnīt gain anything anyway because he knows that the only man Eden loves is Cruz, and nothing can change that. Cruz apologizes to Cain for suspecting him.
Keith searches through Eden and Cruzīs place to find the cufflinks. Eden tries to convince him that Cruz isnīt capable of murder, but Keith tells her that certain things might drive a person over the edge. He thinks Cruz would kill for her. Cruz shows up, and he shows Keith the cufflinks he and Eden found. He tells Keith that someone obviously is trying to frame him for the crime, and he denies that he got the cufflinks from Elena.
The police find a safe deposit key in Elenaīs apartment, and Keith thinks the key might be the undoing of Cruz Castillo.
Cruz tells Eden that he has to find out who else was at the Laser Palace the night Elena was murdered.
Mason returns home, and is reunited with Tori and Chip. Tori canīt believe that itīs really him. Tori tells Julia that she is very grateful that she brought Mason back home. Kelly tells Mason that she and Jeffrey are going to get married real soon.
Brick puts "Johnnyīs" up for sale, because heīs going to change career. Lionel offers him to run the place.
Mason is reunited with C.C and Sophia, and they are very happy that he is home safe. Kelly suggests they take the note they found on the Indian to the police. C.C tells them Elena is dead, and that she was murdered. He tells them the whole story, and that Keith is determined to blame Cruz for the crime. Mason asks him if he has any evidence, and C.C tells him all he has is circumstantial. Mason promises him to talk to Keith and Cruz.
Kelly and Jeffrey show the note to Keith. He tells them heīs happy to get anything that can lead to the solution of the murder. Kelly thinks Keith is only out for personal revenge against Cruz, but Keith tells her he is perfectly capable of handling both the prosecution and the investigation. Kelly wants him to withdraw from the case. When Jeffrey explains to Keith how Elena kept Mason imprisoned in the dessert and tried to kill Kelly he just tells them itīs immaterial. Kelly tells Jeffrey talking to Keith is like talking to a stone wall.
Lionel thinks Julia is still in love with Mason, but she explains to him that she and Mason are just good friends, and that is all it will ever be.
Keith suggests to Gina that is the baby is a boy they should name him Keith Jr.
C.C tells Kelly that because he has seen how happy Jeffrey makes her, heīs not about to interfere any more.
Keith asks Gina to marry him, and she accepts.
