Mason visits his daughter Samantha while Julia is out somewhere. He thinks she’s very beautiful, and he tells her that she was one of the things that kept him going when he was held in the dessert.
Elena’s memorial is held. Alex tells Cruz that he is sure that he didn’t kill Elena. Cruz asks Alex why Elena hated the Capwells so much, but he answers that he doesn’t no. He explains to Cruz that she somehow felt cheated. He tells Cruz that if he had known what was going on in Elena’s mind, he would have tried to stop her. Cruz then asks about her mother, and Alex tells him that she’s dead, and that Elena loved her very much.
Keith opens the safe to which they had found a key in Elena’s apartment. Hess sure that the safe’s content will put Cruz away for good.
Keith wants to ask Alex Nikolas some questions, but he tells Keith to get out. Keith asks Alex if Cruz and Eleanor had an affair, but Alex answers that he doesn’t know. He suggests Keith asks Cruz himself.
Keith presents his new theory to Cruz and Eden. He thinks Cruz and Elena had an affair before Eden returned. He shows them some love letters they had found in Elena’s apartment. Cruz admits that he wrote the letters, but he tells Keith that he had written them to Eden. He explains to Keith that he has no idea how they ended up in Elena’s apartment, except that somebody is trying to frame him. Keith can't believe that Cruz would write a letter to a dead woman.
Gina´s doctor tells Gina that there is no way she could be pregnant. Gina thinks he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, but he explains to her that sometimes the pregnancy-tests may be invalid. The doctor thinks Gina is experiencing a hysterical pregnancy. He also tells her that she will never be able to have another child.
Eden asks Mason if he will defend Cruz is it becomes necessary, and he promises her that he will do it. Meanwhile, Cruz is talking to Julia, and asks her if she will represent him. She promises Cruz that she will defend him. She tells Cruz that she will start constructing a defense immediately.
Jake takes Hayley on a romantic midnight cruise.
Julia can't believe that Mason too is preparing a defense for Cruz. Mason suggests that they do it together, and Julia agrees. Mason tells her that all evidence Keith has against Cruz is circumstantial.
Jane isn’t too found of Brick’s new female partner at the Police Academy, Celia.
Gina tells Keith that she isn’t pregnant, and that she will never be able to get another child. Keith thinks that they still could get married, but Gina doesn’t. She tells him that she’s determined to get Brandon back.
Eden suggests to Cruz that they should take a vacation, go to an island and make up for lost time, but Cruz explains to her that he can't go right now, because it would only make him look guilty. Cruz says that they need to put faith in the system, and that it will prove his innocens. He tells Eden hess sure the jury will clear him if it gets to trial.
Jake proposes to Hayley on the cruise, but she tells him she doesn’t want to rush into marriage yet. She says that she need more time, so she will know if she can stand on her own.
Keith arrives at the beach house with a warrant for Cruz’s arrest.
Jake and Hayley are discussing their future and marriage, when Hayley suddenly collapses.
Keith has Cruz arrested for the murder of Elena Nikolas, and he reads him his rights. Cruz is taken to jail, and the other inmates welcome him to hell.
Gina tells Keith she’s leaving for Los Angeles. She explains to him that she is determined to find Pamela. Gina wants Keith to come with her, but he tells her that he can't, because he has to prosecute Cruz. He explains to Gina that he really doesn’t think Cruz killed Elena, but that he has got enough to convict him.
Keith tells Cruz that the prisoners don’t tend to like ex-cops, and that they do all sorts of strange things to them. He also tells him that he first intended to hold his trial as soon as possibly, but he had changed his mind. Keith thinks Cruz should learn to know the other inmates first.
C.C tells Eden that he has called the governor, and pulled every string possibly to get Cruz released. Keith shows up with Cruz, but he tells the guard to take Cruz away before Eden has a chance to talk with him. Eden tells Keith that she isn’t going anywhere until Cruz is released. She explains to him she will go to the press and tell them all about his dirty schemes if she has to.
The doctor tells Jake that Hayley will be fine once she gets to a hospital.
Julia and Mason are very upset with Keith for questioning Cruz without his attorneys present. Cruz tells them they don’t need to worry, because he didn’t answer any questions. Keith wants to know if Cruz and Elena were involved, and what really happened that night at the Laser Palace.
Gina arrives at the hospital, just in time to see Hayley being rushed into surgery. Jake and Gina ask the doctor what is going on, and he explains to the that Hayley’s appendicitis had erupted, and that won’t know the outcome until after the surgery.
Cruz tells Keith that he didn’t shoot Elena, and he thinks that if Keith was doing his job, he would be out looking for the real killer. Keith wonders why Cruz didn’t go to the police, and Cruz answers that he didn’t have any evidence. Keith then asks why he didn’t come to him, and Cruz tells Keith that he would only have laughed him in the face. Julia and Mason want an immediate bail hearing, but Keith explains to them that the hearing will be held as scheduled the next day. He tells them Cruz will have to spend the night in jail. Keith also points out that there will be no special treatment for Cruz. He grants Julia and Mason two minutes to be alone with their client. Cruz tells them the one they should be worried about is Eden, and he wants her taken care of. Mason tells him that they will take good care of her, and Julia promises to stay the night with Eden.
Jake tells Gina that nothing matters if Hayley dies. The doctor shows up, and explains to them that Hayley had pulled through the operation. He thinks the following 24 hours will be very crucial.
Keith tells Eden that he won’t allow her to see Cruz. She points out that if anything happens to Cruz, she will hold him personally responsible. Eden thinks Keith is only out for personal revenge against Cruz.
Angel Ramirez, the drug dealer Cruz busted, turns out to be in the same jail as Cruz. He tells Cruz that now he will be able to get even, and Cruz will be dead.
Eden explains to Julia that she needs to find the person who had been at the Laser Palace the night Elena was killed.
Gina returns from Los Angeles and tells Keith that she has found Pamela. Keith doesn’t believe that Pamela is alive. Gina then explains to him that she is in Santa Barbara, and that she even has her address.
Hayley gets out from the hospital, and she tells Jake that nothing more matters to her than her friends. Jake tells her that living with her is the most important thing for him.
Eden wants Brick to help her to visit Cruz, and he eventually agrees to help her. He explains to her that it means putting his job as a police officer on the line. He intends to get Cruz into an interrogation room, where he and Eden could meet. He tells Eden that he just has to get his hands on the special forms needed for questioning a prisoner. He also explains that the only person who has these forms is Keith Timmons. Before Brick leaves, he promises Eden that she and Cruz will be together very soon.
Brick searches for the forms in Keith’s office, while Jane is outside. Keith suddenly shows up, and Jane tries to keep him busy. She tries to prevent him from getting into the office, but he finally succeeds to get past her. He finds Brick inside his office, and wonders what hess doing there. Brick explains to Keith that he just wanted to deliver an invitation to the opening of the new "Johnny’s", run by Lionel, and Keith buys his story. When they get out of his office, Brick tells Jane he got the forms, and that Cruz and Eden will finally be together.
Cruz gets a new guard, Carl, one of his old buddies. He brings some things to Cruz, and tells him that he knows hess innocent. Cruz asks Carl what kind of a shot he has, and he answers that according to the detectives it doesn’t look good.
Eden can't believe that she is actually going to see Cruz when Brick tells her that all is set.
Gina shows a photo of Pamela to a woman at the hotel, where Pamela is supposed to be. After giving her some money, the woman tells Gina that Pamela isn’t there anymore, and that she had moved to another hotel. She gives Gina Pamela’s new address.
When Cruz is on his way to the interrogation room, he is stabbed by a man in black (hired by Angel to get back on Cruz).
C.C delivers some money to a secret place. He places the money in a trash can, and leaves. Soon afterward the money is picked up by a mysterious woman (Pamela). C.C is trying to get her to leave town.
Gina finally finds Pamela.
Sophia wonders where C.C has been, and he tells her that something important came up. Sophia thinks he is hiding something, and she wants to know if he has another woman.
Sophia confronts C.C, and asks if he has been involved with another woman. He denies it, and tells her that she is the only woman in his life. He explains that it’s just one very important deal, and that it’s over. He promises Sophia to make up for lost time.
Eden screams for help, but Keith her there is nothing to do for Cruz.
Pamela doesn’t want to talk with Gina. She asks Gina what she wants, and Gina tells her that she wants the same as she, namely to destroy the Capwells. Pamela finally agrees to listen to her.
Pearl thinks Cruz won’t be safe as long as he is in prison. He thinks their mysterious witness who had been seen near the Laser Palace might be able to help them, if they only found him or her. Cain thinks they should consider his plan of breaking Cruz out of prison, but Pearl tells him to forget it.
Keith forbids Eden from seeing Cruz, because the same rules are in effect at the hospital as in lockup. Eden tries to convince him that Cruz need her, but he orders a police officer to escort her out. Cruz, who had been treated for his wounds, has Carl to deliver a message to Eden. In it he tells her that nothing will ever separate them.
Pearl is upset because one of their witnesses, Herald Jenkins is late for an appointment at the Orient Express. Eventually, his wife shows up, and tells them Harold won’t come. She explains that he had run away with another woman. She tells Pearl that he had only told her that he was going to Boston, because he didn’t want her to find him. Pearl tells Cain they need to locate the man in Boston. After he has left for the hospital, Cain calls a gun shop, and explains that he wants to buy a gun.
Pamela admits to Gina that she came back to see her two sons, Mason and Jeffrey, but she thinks it was foolish done. She tells Gina she can't bear to let them see her wearing a black veil. Gina promises Pamela to help her to get what’s rightfully hers, including some kind of relationship with her sons. Pamela doesn’t think Mason cares about her, but Gina tells her that she’s wrong, and that Mason loves her very much. She also tells Pamela that Jeffrey is getting married very soon to Kelly Capwell.
C.C promises to try to get Keith to let Eden see Cruz. He tells Keith that he is ready to give him some inside information about some stocks, but in exchange he wants Keith to let Eden visit Cruz. C.C doesn’t think Keith will get a chance like that in his whole, rotten life. Keith tells him that he is ready to make a deal, and promises to let Eden see Cruz. Eden is very happy when C.C delivers her the news.
Keith explains to Gina that he has bugged Cruz’s hospital room. He is sure there’s a cover-up, and that he will be able to nail the entire Capwell clan. Meanwhile, Cruz finds the bugging device in some flowers Keith had delivered.
Before Eden and Cain go in to see Cruz, Cain slips a gun into the back of Eden’s wheelchair.
While Kelly and Jeffrey are at "Johnny’s" planning their wedding, Pamela is outside observing them.
Cruz can't believe Eden really is there. He wonders what C.C told Keith that made him change his mind, because he finds it strange. Cruz explains to Eden that he will be a free man soon, but Cain tells him and Eden that they shouldn’t count on it, because other things can happen. He picks up the gun, and tells them that he has got a plan. Cruz whispers to him to be silent, and shows him the bugging device.
