Christopher Eccleston was born on the 16 February 1964, making him the first actor to play the role of the Doctor who was younger than the series.
He played the Doctor for the first series of the new Doctor Who series, and so helped introduce the world of Who to a whole new generation. As his Doctor would say Fantastic.
He chose not to continue to do the next series, and so his Doctor regenerated in the last episode into the tenth Doctor, David Tennant.
Outside of Doctor Who, Christopher has appeared in many films including 24 Hour Party People, 28 Days Later and other TV shows like The Second Coming and Our Friends in the North.
