The Afghan Whigs don't only make great (and I mean great as in Alexander the Great proportions) music, but they have a great deal of personality, and as they say, "Personality Goes A Long Way."

The Afghan Whigs are: John Curley, Greg Dulli, Paul Buchignani, and Rick McCullom

I saw them live at the HFStival, but I'm hoping to see them again, soon, but I doubt it, they're almost finished with their tour.

Meredeith Borakove has a fabulous Afghan Whigs page. Other web pages can be found at Seattle's legendary Sub Pop records, where they did Up In It, Congregation, and Uptown Avondale. There they found a lot of good publicity from critics, and a small but loyal cult following. On their current label, Elektra, they have done two full length albums, Gentlemen, and their new one, Black Love. The European label Mute released an EP of their first single off Black Love, Honky's Ladder.

A lot their notoriety comes from outspoken and (supposedly) charming lead singer, and lyricist, Greg Dulli.
Greg Dulli
Greg has also found fame in movies, he starred in the short indie film, Salt Shaker, and sang most of the lead vocals in Backbeat. John Curley, bass, is very well known and respected as a partner in UltraSuede Studios. I don't know too much about guitarist Rick McCollum, but mail me if you know something! I am saddened to say that the second drummer from Afghan Whigs, Paul Buchignani, has been dropped. I really liked his work on Black Love, but that's the way the dice roll. I hope their new drummer is as great as Paul and Steve were. My favorite Whigs songs are: "What Jail is Like," "Blame, etc.," and "Be Sweet". They're pretty famous for talking about failed relationships, backstabbing, manipulations, etc., and you may wonder what a nice girl like me is listening to a band like that, but just give them a listen and you'll know! The songwriting and music are mind-boggling.
