*The original first runner-up Miss India, Maureen Mary Lestourgeon relinguished her title as first runner-up and forfeited her prizes and privileges after a week of the pageant due to film commitments to fulfill in her own country. Miss India said she signed 3 movie contracts before coming to Manila in the hope to win the Miss Asia crown. Her not winning the title makes it imperative that she return immediately to India to fulfill her movie contracts, which her producers were willing to set aside temporarily had she won. Due to this development, the winners' ranking moved up with Philippines now becoming 1st runner-up, Singapore 2nd, Australia 3rd, and Malaysia 4th. Miss Malaysia nearly made it to the top 5 during the selection and coronation rites on June 27th.
