MUTYA NG PILIPINAS (ASIA/ASIA PACIFIC/ASIA PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL) WINNERS

The Mutya ng Pilipinas Pageant officially started in 1968 when Filipino businessman Leandro Enriquez founded the Miss Asia Quest which was an international beauty contest open to women from the countries of Asia and Oceania. The local organizers selected their official representative to the Miss Asia Quest thru the Mutya ng Pilipinas Pageant. In 1984, the title was renamed Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific after the international competition was expanded to include ladies from the Pacific-Rim nations of North, Central and South America. At the present time, the major title in the local event is the Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific selected from the fairest and the brightest girl from all over the archipelago. Four runners-up are chosen who will eventually compete in four or five other international competitions as follows: Miss Intercontinental pageant in Germany, Queen of Clubs International pageant in Malaysia, Miss Tourism International pageant, Queen of the Year pageant and Miss Expo Interantional pageant (held once in 1995 in Ecuador).
