This film is based on Jane Austen's "Emma". Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) is a Beverly Hills high school student and pampered daughter of Mel (Dan Hedaya), a widowed lawyer. Cher tries to help her classmates and family with romance and fashion advice, while eventually coming to examine the problems in her own seemingly perfect life. Breckin plays Travis Birkenstock, a skate boarder, and the object of Cher's new friend Tai's affection. Paul Rudd is Josh, Cher's stepbrother, and Stacey Dash is Dion, Cher's best friend.
