As Eric Draven, the lead character in THE CROW: STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, Mark Dacascos is television's next romantic action hero. A world-renowned martial arts expert, the multi-talented actor possesses darkly handsome good looks and physical strength that support his believability in the role of Draven and his alter ego, The Crow. An accomplished musician, Dacascos is also learning to play guitar for the role.
Although Dacascos grew up in diverse locations around the world and boasts a mixed Euro-Asian heritage, he refers to himself as an American boy at heart. Fluent in basic Mandarin and German, Dacascos is enjoying a career that has included television, film, theatre and athletic competition.
Born in Hawaii to martial arts masters, Dacascos is a student of Kung Fu and Won Hop Kuen and at the age of nine he won his first international tournament.
One of Hollywood's most promising young leading men, he portrayed "Lo-Mei," a half-leopard, half-human character in the New Line Cinema feature film produced by Edward R. Pressman, "Island of Dr. Moreau," opposite Marlon Brando, Val Kilmer. Dacascos also stars opposite Kadeem Hardison in the independent feature "Drive," a buddy action film directed by famed Hong Kong action enthusiast Steve Wang.
Dacascos recently completed the atmospheric drama, "Boogie Boy" with Emily Lloyd, Jaimz Woolvett and Frederic Forrest. "Boogie Boy" was written and directed by Craig Hamann and produced by Cathryn Jaymes and Academy Award winner Roger Avary ("Killing Zoe").
"No Code of Conduct," the actor's project with Charlie and Martin Sheen, is currently in post production. Dacascos plays the younger Sheen's former police partner, Paul DeLucca. The reunited team find themselves in the middle of a dangerous drug bust gone bad. "Crying Freeman," a film based on the popular Japanese animated serial, stars Dacascos opposite Julie Condra and French star Tchecky Karyo. The film has achieved cult status around the world taking the #1 position at the box office in foreign release, and the film is awaiting a North American release date later this year. Dacascos stars as a hauntingly handsome assassin who is forced into a nightmarish violent world while plagued by his conscience and distracted by his pursuit of true love.
Dacascos made guest appearances on several television shows such as "Tales From The Crypt," "Dragnet," "Doogie Howser" and "General Hospital" before he was spotted on a San Francisco street by director Wayne Wang. Wang promptly cast the young actor opposite Joan Chen in his feature "DIM SUM." Roles in FOX's "Only the Strong" and the Showtime special "Dragstrip Girl" soon followed. Additionally, he has appeared in the independent film "Roosters" opposite Edward James Olmos.
Dacascos enjoys surfing, snow skiing, playing the drums, fitness training and playing with his two dogs, Alex and Pearl.
