Master writer/director David Lynch ( of Twin Peaks fame) created another wonderful movie in "Dune". Starring
Lynch regular Kyle MacLachlan, Dune follows the story of Frank Herbert's novels fairly
closely, closer than usual in a movie, with a few Lynchian changes: the look of the
Guild navigators, the weirding modules, the space-folding (which was in the novels, just
at a later time).
Much of the dialogue in Dune is thought rather than spoken, something which adds to the
slowness of the pace - a quality which Lynch loves to use. The film is full of beautiful
images and sets. The acting is also of a high quality.
Speaking of which, a few recognizable faces appear in Dune.
Patrick Stewart plays Gurney Halleck.
Dean Stockwell plays Dr Yueh.
Freddie Jones plays Thufir Hawat.
Sean Young plays Chani.
Dune is an epic tale following the maturation of a young man forced to grow beyond what he is. From Paul Atreides, he must become Paul Muad'Dib - the Kwisatz Haderach.
