Joe's Apartment was MTV's first movie. It is an absolutely hilarious flick about a young man named Joe (Jerry O'Connell) who moves to New York to get a job, but can't find one. When an old lady dies, Joe pretends to be her son to inherit her apartment, which he discovers is infested by singing and dancing roaches! He gets along just fine with them until they begin to interfere with his relationship with Lily (Megan Ward). It is a very fun movie.
What more could you ask for? Great humor, fantastic music, nice CGI cockroach effects, and Megan Ward.
While it's true that this will never be considered a classic by anyone, it is definitely a must-see movie. The cockroaches are hilarious. The best song is "Funky Towel". Yeah.
Jerry O'Connell starred in My Secret Identity years ago and is now in Sliders which was cancelled by Fox but picked up by the Sci-Fi Channel (yay!). Unfortunately it will have to take a budget cut and (I hear) Sabrina Lloyd has left. Oh well. He also appeared in Jerry Maguire but is best known for being, as he puts it himself, "the fat kid in Stand By Me".
Megan Ward starred in the series Dark Skies which lasted only one season. Shame. Apparently, she played Ashley Judd (she does resemble her very much) in a telemovie Love Can Build a Bridge or something. I didn't see that one.
