Why would he trust the devil?
Al returned to Earth as a Hellspawn, in training to be captain of the Malebolgia's army (Malbolgia being the devil). His figure is burnt and he has a neural parasite for clothing. His strange powers bring him one step closer to a second death every time he uses them and, worse, his wife is married to his best friend!
This is the plight of Spawn in the comic book of the same name. Created by Todd McFarlane of Spiderman fame, this comic beats all others to Hell. It is by far the greatest, with the level of writing even occasionally exceeding the fantastic artwork. This is one truly magnificent comic.
In case anyone doesn't know, it was recently made into an expensive movie. Most reviews were scathing but I personally thought it was excellent. Plenty of action, spectacular effects, good acting. The characters were admittedly weak but this wasn't exactly a character movie. Maybe next time. For now, why can't you all accept it as an action movie?
