Each of our tattoos was different. My tattoo looked like a diamond, and that, along with the jade-like coloring of my eyes, gave me the name "Jade". Until then, I, like everyone else, was just a number. Nitric's tattoo looked like a slash, a rectangle. I don't know how they came up with her name. Perhaps it was meant to mock her. "Nitric" is not a word, it's nothing, and he was showing that neither is she. Catastrophia's tattoo looked like a jagged line, like a lightning bolt. This was derived from her power. "Catastrophia", a name similar to "catastrophe". Something which she ended up being for Andrews. Dr. Santiago, another doctor at the Project, gave us a name. "JaNiCata". A nickname for the three of us as one. It fit, because, in essence, that's what we were.
The entire extent of our powers was never tested fully. There was never a chance. Andrews wanted to exploit it as soon as he possibly could. In the years since the Project, I have discovered that I hold control over the four powers of nature. Earth, air, fire, and water. I also, at times that are not frequent, since I don't hold much control over my powers and don't really know how to control them or to use them, have shown small control over alloys and crystals.
Nitric has a nuclear power. The easiest way to explain what she does is to say that she emits radiation, although that doesn't really describe it. Since she continually emits a small amount of radiation around her body, I have to always provide her with a sort of "shield", so others won't be harmed. I create a pocket of air around her. This, in essence, nullifies the radioactivity around her, providing a barrier between her body and the world. We are each immune to each other's powers, or at least to the degree of power which we are aware.
Cata holds control over catastrophic events. Hurricanes, tornadoes, and the like. When she uses her power, she uses it on an extreme level, so she could never create a gentle breeze. She'd end up blowing everything away with a tornado.
The three of us are unable to hold control over our powers if they reach a certain extent. Whoever uses her power after that point is knocked unconscious. Because of this, we each have to constantly monitor how much power the others are using, so it doesn't get out of hand. When we pass out, one of two things will happen. Our power, whatever we were doing, will either stop, or it will continue becoming stronger and stronger until the other two sisters find some way to stop it.
