Steps How to create a Schema.ini
Start/Settings/Controls Panel/32bit odbc
On the Userdsn Tab choose Add
Selected the Microsoft Text Driver
Finish
In Odbc Text Setup dialog
Data source name: name it something ex. testdsn
Uncheck the use current directory box
Click the Select Directory button
Then browse to the folder that has the text file you want to
open
Click on the options button
Then choose the extension you want.
Click in the define Format button
Click on the text file you want to format in the Tables list
box
Under Format choose how you want the file delimited
For Custom Delimited Under Format: choose Custom Delimited
Delimiter: |( or what ever you want the delimiter to be)
On the left side click the Guess button
That should show you the column names in the Columns list box
for example F1 to F7 for your text file.
Under datatype you can change the field type or verify that
that is the data type you what.
Under the Name: you can change the name of the column headers
to what every you want.
Under width(if availalbe) you can change the with of the
fields.
If you have made change to the columns click Modify and you
change will take effect.
Then click O.K. until you get out of the ODBC manager
