"It is richly melodic, yet simple and elegant, " dicrector, Charles Martin Smith, comments in the liner notes. He sums it up very well. When I saw the CD in a used CD store, I remembered someone had said some good things about the score but I was not sure . It was mainly because I have not heard of the name Brahm Wenger before. I got it anyway and it is a pleasant surprise. This orchestral score is rich in melody and quite enjoyable. There are mainly three themes: Josh's Theme, Air Bud's Theme, and Buddy & Josh's Theme. Josh's Theme is a soft and beautiful theme (played with soft instruments like piano, woodwinds, and harps). Air Bud's Theme is a more up beat theme. It some how reminds me of the "End Title" from James Horner's Apollo 13. Buddy & Jos h Theme is a bombastic heroic theme. You can clearly tell that it is inspired by the theme from John Williams' Superman. Other than the three theme, there are other enjoyable motifs. Although the orchestra members don't hit their notes quite well in some places, if you want a good thematically strong orchestral score, this is a good one to get. I guarantee that it will spin in your player quite frequently. | |
