An early work of Goldsmith (1966). According to the notes, there have been four different versions of the original soundtrack. The recordings are released by Mainstream Records, Citadel Records, Varese Sarabande and Sony. The one that I have is the sony version (one of the Lecacy Soundtracks series.) It says that it has all of the previously released tracks. I like the soundtrack in general. Many of the tracks sound like David Arnold's ID4. I should say the music of ID4 sounds a lot like Blue Max's since it comes later. They both have the patriotic and horn-based main theme. "To convey to audiences the romance of flight, the orchestra, consisting o f some cues of as many as 100 players, was given unusually large brass and percussion section." If you like war films' music, this is a good one to get. | |
