The one and the only score Steve Spielberg's films that is not composed by John Williams. But you won't be disappointed by this score and music. The score and music took twelve people's effort. ( It means if it had had won the Academy Award, twelve people were going to get the Award and that was one of the reasons why they lost that year. ) In other words, the soundtrack is compiled by the best of the best. The main theme is written by Quincy Jones, Jeremy Lubbock, Rod Temperton, and Joel Rosenbaum. Although it appears through out the score, you won't find it sounds repetitive because they make different excellent variation and arrangement each time. One of the arrangement has a very strong Gerswin flavor. ( I like that arrangement the most.) I recommend reading the book and seeing the movie (which I did for my English class.) since that will give you more feel of the music, especially the song "Miss Celie's Blues (Sister)" By the way, Steven Spielberg whistled in one of the tracks (Hey, he is not bad!) | |
