Mark Mancina and Trevor Rabin try to become up with a score that is as effective as Zimmer's score to the Rock. However, their effort cannot be compared to Zimmer's score as all. The score is not as melodic as the Rock and the instrumental use is not as perfect. Out of 17 tracks, 9 tracks are shorter than 2 min. There is a short larger than life main theme that is introduced in Con Air Theme, which starts with a 60 secs grinding noise. I like the theme. However, it appears only in a few tracks and is not fully utilized in the score. If you think the Rock is too noisy, the chances that you like this score is a lot less. Most of the music is filled with electric guitar sounds. Although this CD is some how disappointing, there are still some good moments. They all appear in the longer tracks (longer then 3 mins), like Lear Crash, Lerner Landing, and Fire Truck Chase. It is still worth up picking up if it is cheap.
