Composer: Christopher Young
Label (Release Year): Varèse Sarabande (1993) Availability: **** Rating: **
Unlike his score to "Hellraiser", Christopher Young did not use the large orchestral approach in this score. The album starts off with a nice and gentle piano theme in "Prologue and Tumor." However, the rest of the music are mostly dark, sad, omnious background music. Strings and piano are basically the instruments used in the score. The simple orchestrations make this a very low key horror score. "Green to Green" is the only bright track on the album. It is sort of a warm hearted cue. "Sparrows" is the only fast paced track which kind of wakes me up. However, it is toward the end of the album and it is too late to save the disc. The last track "The Dark Half", is probably the best track on the album. It is the orchestral version of the theme heard at the beginning. Generally, the score is too slow and quiet and lacks of melodic materials. If you want a good horror score or a good score from Young, this is not the one that you want.
