Composer: Michael Kamen

This the only Kaman's modern that I like so far. It is probably because I have seen the movie so many times and so familiar with the music. Kamen is well known in merging a classical score in his work. This time he chose Sibelius' Finlandia. The piece is composed in 1899 for nationalist demonstration. "Finland was under the yoke of Tsarist Russia; and the harshness of Russian rule and the fervor of the growing Finnish opposition to it find powerful expression in the work alongside quiet patriotic pride." (form liner notes of a Deutsche Grammophon release, 438 010-2) So, may be you now understand why he uses this opus as the end credits music. It is also included in the soundtrack. However, the performance is not very great. | |
