Composer: Danny Elfman

After the green Martians music from Danny Elfman, we get the green Flubber music from him. Although, in my opinion, Mars Attacks is a more superior score, this score is quite enjoyable. The main title contains a very catchy mambo motif and a beautiful theme. Both of them are used throughout the score. The mambo motif is usually played by baritone saxophone and other low range instruments. The mentioned theme sounds a little like a love theme but not exactly, because it is kind of playful. The theme is usually used in quiter moments. Other than the main title track, "Mambo in the Sky", "Mambo del Flubber", and "End Credits," are definitely highlights from the score. Those tracks will definitely make you to pay frequent visits. They have enjoyable mambo beat and clever arrangements. Other tracks are quite similar to other Elfman's works in the 90s. They may not draw very much of your attentions, but they are certainly some good works from him. By the way, Mark McKenzie personally conducted the track "Mambo del Flubber" which is used while the goo is dancing in the house. McKenzie has worked with many other famous composer like Bruce Broughton, Basil Poledouris, Marc Shaimen and Randy Edelman. In all, this score should belong to any Elfman's fan. | |
