Trevor Jones is being a very low key film composer in recent years. He does not have many projects each year. Even if he has one, it will be a score for a minor movie. Ever since Cliffhanger (1993), Dark City, In The Name of the Father, and Richard III are the only MAJOR movies that he scored. Merlin and The Mighty are both good scores, but the former is a TV movie and the latter is a bomb in box office. G.I. Jane? I don't think many people went see it either. "Conspiracy" has the "Eye of The Tiger" like introduction. Then it changes to a very bombastic opening music. The first 5 minutes of "Conspiracy" is really impressive. In the span of the 5 minutes, there are parts that sound very much like Hans Zimmer score. I am not surprised if the director temped the movie with a Zimmer score. It sounds a little like his score to Kiss of Death too. The theme is the larger than life type. It is pretty decent and it appears a few times in the 20 minutes score. However, after the 5 minutes, everything is going down hill. There is really nothing memorable. The beginning and ending of "Endurance" are good but they are not enough to save the CD. The songs? "Mama Told me" is the only song that I listening to. So, If you see this CD for 2 or 3 bucks, it is still worth picking up. Otherwise, don't. | |
