The rating for this soundtrack was four and a half star before. After I put the rating on, one of my friend called me up and said that is not right and I asked him what is not right. He said I under rated the CD. However, I still did not change the rating. Afterward, he called me up couples more times and said the same thing to me. So, finally, I put the CD in my stereo and listened to the CD a few times, literally a few times. And I realized that I really under rated this fabulous work of Horner. The reputation of the score has been good and it deserves it. People always talk about the lacking of originality of Horner and this score proves that they are wrong. Well, although the track "Charging for Wagner" sounds a lot like the song "O Fortuna" in Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana." (That track may actually be from "Carmina Burana," since I have not heard the complete recording of it. But I wonder why they did not credit it if that is true.) (extra: The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and Chorus/ Leonard Slatkin version was one of the best selling classical album one or two years ago, and I think this cantata becomes popular is because of the release of that album.) The is one of the few extra-ordinary works of Horner. The choral part give a good feel of the civil war. No soundtracks lover can miss this one. | |
