Rumors said that this score is a co-works with Howard Shore. I am still not sure if it is true. Another catchy theme from Elfman. The theme is an expansion of a short phrase that appeared in his works to Nightbreed. Also, the almost exact "flying saucer" sound is in his debut film score, Forbidden Zone. Also, saxophone, an instrument that usually does not appear in his work, plays a major role in some tracks. I did not like many of the tracks the first time I heard them. However, after listening to them a couple more times, I started to enjoy how weird and playful they are. Yes, this soundtrack is a lot more weird than many of his works. The movie sure is one damn weird movie too. I watched the movie a few months after I bought the soundtrack. I think this score is perfect, he could not have done any better. The score fits right into movie, especially those weird cues. | |
