Not an album that a Horner fan will usually look for. It is one of those hard to find album but no one seems to really care. It may probably be because there are only 8 minutes of Horner's score in it. Or maybe you hate country music very much. I found the CD along with "Class Action" (another Horner's out-of-print album) in a clearance bin for $7 each. Although the score is short, the track "Going Home" is one of the best Horner music I have heard. With very Hornerish pan flute or shakuhachi flute as the introduction, it suddenly changes to synthesizer music that sounds very much like Randy Newman's "The Natural." It than changes once again: it changes to something sounds very much like Hans Zimmer. The music is very soft, gentle and with a Zimmer style light melody, absolutely enjoyable. I really would like to hear some more of this score. Too bad that there are only 8 minutes. Other than the score, I enjoy every single song on the album too. Country songs are not really that bad right? 7 out of 10 songs are country. The Oak Ridge Boys's "(You're My) Soul and Inspiration", Clint Black's "Nothing's News", Alabama's "Old Flame", Baillie And the Boys' "Perfect", and Willie Nelson's title song are very enjoyable. You should give this album a try. | |
